This cooperative agreement will establish and maintain an interdisciplinary, multicenter research forum for scientific collaboration and infrastructure building, which will provide national leadership in research designed to improve the behavioral, mental, social, and/or cognitive health and wellbeing of children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other developmental disabilities. As authorized by Section 399BB of the Autism CARES Act, the research network will determine the evidence-based practices for interventions to improve the behavioral health of individuals with ASD and other developmental disabilities, develop guidelines for those interventions, and disseminate information related to such research and guidelines. The AIR-B Network will be one of two HRSA-supported research networks that will provide national leadership in research to advance the evidence base on effective interventions for children and adolescents with ASD and other developmental disabilities, with AIR-B having a focus on addressing behavioral health and wellbeing. As directed by the FY 2015 Congressional Appropriations for HRSA's Autism CARES Act programs, HRSA is broadening the scope of this funding opportunity to reflect an additional emphasis on addressing disparities in effective interventions and treatment and access to care experienced by underserved minority and rural communities. In particular, applicants should consider diverse ethnic/racial, cultural, linguistic, socioeconomic, and geographic (e.g., rural/urban, tribal) populations for whom there is little evidence regarding the effectiveness of interventions, or for whom access to effective treatments is limited. Applicants should include plans to conduct multi-site research protocols on innovative treatment models, including the use of telehealth networks, to improve behavioral health interventions and treatment for ASD in underserved minority and rural communities. As stated in the Strategy for American Leadership in Advanced Manufacturing, worldwide competition in manufacturing has been dominated in recent decades by the maturation, commoditization, and widespread application of computation in production equipment and logistics, effectively leveling the global technological playing field and putting a premium on low wages and incremental technical improvements.[1] The next generation of technological competition in manufacturing will be dictated by inventions of new materials, chemicals, devices, systems, processes, machines, design and work methods, social structures and business practices. Fundamental research will be required in robotics, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, materials science, sustainability, education and public policy, and workforce development to take the lead in this global competition. The research supported under this solicitation will enhance U.S. leadership in manufacturing far into the future by providing new capabilities for established companies and entrepreneurs, improving our health and quality of life, and reducing the impact of manufacturing industries on the environment.

The purpose of this FOA is to bring about decreases in IPV risk factors and increases in IPV protective factors by increasing strategic data-driven planning and sustainable use of community and societal level primary prevention activities that address the social determinants of health (SDOH) and are based on the best available evidence. In addition, the FOA will help to further develop the evidence-base for community and societal-level programs and policy efforts to prevent IPV by increasing the use of evaluation and existing surveillance data at the state and local level. Another goal of the FOA is for SDVCs to support the integration of primary prevention goals and action steps throughout the state and local level IPV planning and capacity building activities. The aim of integrating primary prevention into state planning is to help states leverage diverse funding and partnerships to increase the implementation of primary prevention above and beyond DELTA funding. DELTA Impact requires SDVCs to focus on the implementation of 3 to 4 evidence-informed programs and policy efforts within three specific focus areas. SDVCs will also focus on developing or enhancing an already-existing State Action Plan (SAP) to increase the use of data for planning and the prioritization of primary prevention of IPV based on any existing health inequities within their jurisdictions. SDVCs will be expected to participate in the national evaluation of the FOA and provide leadership at the state and national level.

The National Institute of Corrections (NIC) is seeking applications for funding under the Fiscal Year (FY) 2016 Learning and Performance Initiative. Work completed under this cooperative agreement will result in the revision, conversion, and or development of instructional materials for three existing courses of instruction for NIC's Academy Division. The Miami Initiative for Advancing, Mentoring and Investing in Women (M.I.A.M.I. WOMEN) awarded nearly $104,000 in Giving Circle grants to students and faculty during the annual Leadership Symposium on April 12, 2018. Finalists pitched their projects the previous evening at the inaugural Hawk Tank event. This grant fund is open again for the 2018-2019 cycle.

T1D is an autoimmune disease that occurs in both children and adults. Therefore, the NIDDK will award physician scientist career development program (K12) grants to eligible institutions to provide a program to prepare adult and/or pediatric endocrinologists, selected by the institution, for careers in basic or clinical research related to T1D. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) allows appointment of Scholars (K12) proposing to serve as the lead investigator of an independent clinical trial; or proposing a separate ancillary study to an existing trial; or proposing to gain research experience in a clinical trial led by another investigator, as part of their research and career development. The NIH Research Education Program (R25) supports research education activities in the mission areas of the NIH.  The over-arching goal of this Fogarty International Center R25 program is to support educational activities that complement and/or enhance the training of a workforce to meet Africa's biomedical, behavioral and clinical research needs by supporting the establishment of an African Association for Health Professions Education and Research (the "Association"). The Association will serve as a leadership and convening organization to network institutions across Africa in order to jointly develop, disseminate, and share best practices, innovations, curricula, and policy and to engage in joint activities that will increase the quantity, quality and retention of African health professionals to address the crisis in HIV/AIDS and its' comorbidities on the continent.

The NIH Research Education Program (R25) supports research education activities in the mission areas of the NIH. The over-arching goal of this NINDS R25 program is to support educational activities that complement and/or enhance the training of a workforce to meet the nation's biomedical, behavioral and clinical research needs. To accomplish the stated over-arching goal, this FOA will support creative educational activities with a primary focus on Courses for Skills Development and Research Experiences. The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement is to encourage applications for the initiation or continuation of nationally-available neuroscience research education programs that will significantly advance the mission of NINDS. The primary focus of programs submitted under this FOA should be on intensive hands-on experience that will provide research experience, an in depth understanding of techniques and analytic approaches and expertise that is only possible with a nationally-organized program. Within the context of gaining expertise primarily through hands-on experience, programs may include immersive coursework and expert discussion when appropriate. Violence is a serious, yet preventable, public health problem. Sexual violence (SV) and Intimate partner violence (IPV) affects millions of women, men, and children. In the United States, 1 in 4 women and 1 in 9 men experience contact sexual violence, physical violence, and/or stalking by an intimate partner with a negative impact from this or other forms of violence in the relationship such as injury, fear, concern for safety, or needing services (Smith et al, 2017). Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey (NISVS) data show many victims of IPV began experiencing these forms of violence prior to adulthood (Smith, et al, 2017). In 2013, Congress reauthorized the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), originally passed in 1994 to address sexual violence (SV). This legislation established CDC's Rape Prevention and Education (RPE) program, which funds state health departments to work on SV prevention activities. CDC has funded the Domestic Violence Prevention Enhancements and Leadership Through Alliances (DELTA) Program since 2002, authorized by the Family Violence and Prevention Services Act (FVPSA). The DELTA program funds State Domestic Violence Coalitions (SDVCs) to work on IPV prevention activities.

NIFA requests applications for the Mental Health Research Project (MHRP) for the fiscal year FY 2017 to support the Air Force Medical Operations Agency (AFMOA) MHRP in promoting the psychological health and well being for Airmen and there families through staff development, consultation, program and resource development; program evaluation, and data tracking.The primary objective for this project is to assess, develop, and evaluate programming to treat and prevent mental health problems to support the Mental Health Division of the Air Force Medical Operations Agency (AFMOA).This work also supports the mission of the DoD-USDA Partnership for Military Families Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed in 2010 by NIFA and DoD senior leadership.
