Grants will be awarded to arts organizations in support of activities aimed at identifying, implementing, and refining new strategies with the potential to have far-reaching effects in helping them do their best work. Activities supported include the development and testing of promising ideas or new approaches to solving chronic organizational challenges or to pursuing emerging opportunities (e.g., building audiences, diversifying income, shifting fundraising strategies, new business or operating models, or engaging new communities). Collaborative efforts also are eligible.

The GKV Foundation supports individual development and related community impact through the use of a range of artistic media, including the visual arts, music, and dance. The goal is that with GKV first-year funding enough measurable results will be achieved to attract sustaining funding from other sources. Priority is given to established nonprofits with a big idea that has great potential but that has yet to be funded and therefore is untested. In order to be considered for funding, interested organizations must first submit a Letter of Interest. If the LOI is of interest to the foundation and is selected for further consideration, the organization will be contacted via email and invited to submit a more comprehensive proposal.

An organization may submit only one proposal under this program solicitation. This Cooperative Agreement will begin no earlier than March 1, 2020, and extend for up to 24 months and no fewer than 12 months. Program Description NEA Research Labs are intended to serve as "hubs" or centers of excellence in the domain of interest. Each NEA Research Lab will develop a pipeline of projects or products, even while conducting at least one major study. In addition, NEA Research Labs will be positioned to fulfill ad hoc analyses or information requests concerning the research agenda being pursued, as may be required during the project period of performance. Such requests will not involve new data collection. Priority will be given to applications that show capacity to design and implement a series of studies based on theory-driven research questions and methodologies that will yield important information about the impact of the arts within the selected topic area. Research methodologies may include such approaches as quasi-experimental or experimental designs, or analyses that use primary and/or secondary data. Competitive applications will take into account any extant research that serves as a basis for a theoretical framework and helps to motivate the proposed studies. We also welcome novel and promising research approaches, such as rigorous analyses of organizational or social networks, and/or social media data, and statistically driven meta-analyses. In addition, we are interested in translational research that moves scientific evidence toward the development, testing, and standardization of new arts-related projects, models, tools, or techniques that can be used easily by other practitioners and researchers.

Program Description The National Endowment for the Arts ("Arts Endowment") assists organizations in effectivity incorporating the arts into community development efforts by funding creative placemaking projects across the country. These projects advance local economic, physical, and/or social outcomes by placing the arts at the table with other sectors, such as agriculture and food, economic development, education and youth, environment and energy, health, housing, public safety, transportation, and workforce development. For the last decade, these activities have primarily been supported through the agency's Our Town grant program. In the course of this work, it became clear that many Our Town grantees would benefit from direct, hands-on technical assistance while executing their projects at the local level. In 2016, the Arts Endowment began the Our Town Technical Assistance Pilot Program to provide select Our Town grantees with targeted technical assistance. To build upon the pilot program's success and to further strengthen the field of creative placemaking, the Arts Endowment now plans to develop a more expansive technical assistance program. The Creative Placemaking Technical Assistance Program will serve a wider audience of both prospective applicants to and grantees of the Our Town program, as well other communities interested in undertaking creative placemaking activities. Short-term technical assistance institutes will be convened to gather experts with teams of local leaders

The Arts Endowment's support of a project may start on July 1, 2020, or any time thereafter. A grant period of up to two years is allowed. An organization may submit as a lead applicant two applications to Our Town. A partnering organization may serve as a partner on as many applications as they like. You may apply to other National Endowment for the Arts funding opportunities, including Art Works and Challenge America, in addition to Our Town. In each case, the request must be for a distinctly different project, or a distinctly different phase of a project. If you have applied to the NEA in the past and were not recommended for funding, you may apply again to any funding opportunity, including Our Town. Program Description Our Town is the National Endowment for the Arts' creative placemaking grants program. Through project-based funding, we support projects that integrate arts, culture, and design activities into efforts that strengthen communities by advancing local economic, physical, and/or social outcomes. Successful Our Town projects ultimately lay the groundwork for systemic changes that sustain the integration of arts, culture, and design into local strategies for strengthening communities. These projects require a partnership between a local government entity and nonprofit organization, one of which must be a cultural organization; and should engage in partnership with other sectors (such as agriculture and food, economic development, education and youth, environment and energy, health, housing, public safety, transportation, and workforce development). Matching grants range from $25,000 to $200,000, with a minimum cost share/match equal to the grant amount.

Established in 1971 as an independent nonprofit organization with the mission of serving individual artists in New York State, the New York Foundation for the Arts today works to empower working artists and emerging arts organizations across all disciplines at critical stages in their creative lives or professional/organizational development. To that end, NYFA is accepting applications for a new program, the Recharge Foundation Fellowship for New Surrealist Art. Funded by the Gu family and administered by NYFA, the program will award a $5,000 grant to a painter living in the United States or a U.S. territory and working in the New Surrealist style. The New Surrealist style is an extension of the Surrealist movement, in which artists combine relatable imagery in uncanny and unexpected situations in their work.

The Prairie Ronde Artist Residency is located in historic Vicksburg, Michigan, near Kalamazoo. The residency offers access to the 420,000-square foot former Lee Paper Company paper mill and its adjacent 80 acres of property to use as inspiration. From the French meaning "round meadow," the residency is named for the swaths of grasses and wildflowers that once dotted the landscape of southwest Michigan. First settled in 1831, Vicksburg is a quaint, rural village surrounded by lush agricultural land dotted with lakes, stands of hardwood forests, and gently flowing streams. Through the program, visual artists, writers, and musicians will receive a $2,000 stipend, a $500 travel grant, and the private use of a car for a residency of between four and seven weeks. Artists are encouraged to use Prairie Ronde's close ties to members of the village community and the area's creative community and ask that artists propose a community "give back" such as a workshop, final show, or open studio days, as well as donate a piece of work to the Prairie Ronde collection.

The Aaron Siskind Foundation works to preserve and protect photographer Aaron Suskind's artistic legacy and foster greater knowledge of and appreciation for his art through new books, exhibits, educational events, and scholarly research. Photographer and educator Siskind holds a preeminent place in the history of American photography. Beginning his photographic career in the 1930s as a social documentarian with the New York Photo League, he eventually radicalized the medium by emphasizing the photograph as an abstract form of expression and an aesthetic end in itself.  The foundation currently is accepting applications to its Individual Photographer's Fellowship Grants program. Through the program, grants of up to $15,000 will be awarded to individual artists working in photography and photo-based art. The program seeks to support artists/photographers who demonstrate a serious commitment to the field and who are professionally active. Award recipients will be determined on the basis of artistic excellence, accomplishment, and the promise of future achievement in the medium.

Funded by the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts and administered by Creative Capital, the Arts Writers Grant Program was launched in 2006 to support emerging and established writers who engage with issues of contemporary visual art. Through the program, published authors who identify as art historians, artists, critics, curators, or journalists, or who are writers in an outside field and are strongly engaged with the contemporary visual arts, can apply for grants ranging between $15,000 and $50,000. Grants will be awarded in four categories: articles, blogs, books, and short-form writing.

The Jerome Robbins Dance Division of the New York Public Library is accepting applications for the fourth cohort of Dance Research Fellows, a program generously funded by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, the Louise Guthman Estate, and the Committee for the Dance Division. The Jerome Robbins Dance Division of The New York Public Library is the largest and most comprehensive archive in the world devoted to the documentation of dance. Chronicling the art of dance in all its forms, the division preserves the history of dance by gathering diverse written, visual, and aural resources, and works to ensure the art form's continuity through active documentation and educational programs. In honor of the division's 75th anniversary year, each of the five curators who have overseen the collection during its history - Genevieve Oswald, Madeleine Nichols, Michelle Potter, Jan Schmidt and current curator Linda Murray - selected a particular collection within the division's holdings for one researcher to explore. A sixth collection was selected by members of the division's staff.

The Best Buy Foundation seeks to build better futures for youth through technology. To that end, the foundation is inviting proposals for community grants. Grants of up to $15,000 will be awarded in support of equitable, innovative, and impact-driven programs focused on enhancing the lives of youth between the ages of 13 to 18 through technology-enabled curricula. Programs should include hands-on learning opportunities that lead to skills development, engage youth in experimenting and interacting with the latest technologies, and close the digital skills gap; provide teens from underresourced communities with access to innovative technologies and help them become fluent in technological fields while developing skills that better prepare them for future education and career success; and incorporate cutting-edge technology such as computers, digital cameras, video cameras, and professional software, including but not limited to audio production (including music mixing and recording), website development, computer maintenance and repair, UX/UI (user experience/user interface), graphic design and photography 2, cybersecurity, mobile and game app development, 3D animation, programing and coding, virtual reality/ augmented reality, robotics, and green technology.

Proposed projects must target audiences in the U.S. and be distributed/exhibited in the U.S. The program does not support site installations or performances in Antarctica. The program also does not support short-term projects that are essentially journalistic in nature (See Section IX. Other Information). Artists and Writers Program field teams should consist of no more than one or two people. Larger projects-such as television or documentary film crews-should contact the cognizant AAW Program Officer.

The Chicago-based Harpo Foundation was established in 2006 to support emerging visual artists, stimulate creative inquiry, and encourage new modes of thinking about art. To that end, the foundation is inviting Letters of Inquiry for its 2019 New Work Project Grants. Through the annual program, grants of up to $10,000 are awarded to nonprofit organizations in support of new work by underrecognized artists age 21 or older. The foundation will consider proposals that directly support the production of new work by visual artists and/or collaborative teams who are underrecognized in their field. This production may happen in the context of an installation, public intervention, residency, or exhibition.

The Caxton Club, an organization devoted to "the literary study and promotion of the arts pertaining to the production of books," offers annual grants for expenses of up to $2,500 (each) for book-related projects. The grant will cover expenses, such as travel, materials, and tuition fees. In the 2018-2019 academic year, Caxton Club grants were offered to Midwestern graduate students with projects in the following areas: bibliography, book arts, history of the book, literary studies, pring culture studies, and zines.

AIIS fellowships are granted in 4 areas: Junior Research Fellowships Junior Research Fellowships are available to doctoral candidates at U.S. universities in all fields of study. These grants are specifically designed to enable doctoral candidates to pursue their dissertation research in India. Junior Research Fellows establish formal affiliation with Indian universities and Indian research supervisors. Awards are available for up to 11 months. Senior Research Fellowships Senior Research Fellowships are available to scholars with a PhD or its equivalent. These grants are designed to enable scholars who specialize in South Asia to pursue further research in India and to establish formal affiliation with an Indian institution. Short-term awards are available for up to four months. Long-term awards are available for six to nine months. A limited number of humanists will be granted fellowships paid in dollars funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities. Senior Scholarly/Professional Development Fellowships Senior Scholarly/Professional Development Fellowships are available both to established scholars who have not previously specialized in Indian studies and to established professionals who have not previously worked or studied in India. Senior Scholarly/Professional Development Fellows are formally affiliated with an Indian institution. Awards may be granted for periods of six to nine months. Senior Performing and Creative Arts Fellowships Senior Performing and Creative Arts Fellowships are available to accomplished practitioners of the performing arts of India and creative artists who demonstrate that study in India would enhance their skills, develop their capabilities to teach or perform in the U.S., enhance American involvement with India's artistic traditions or strengthen their links with peers in India. Awards will normally be for periods of up to four months, although proposals for periods of up to nine months can be considered.

Submit an application if you are a successful top-rank junior researcher from abroad, only completed your doctorate with distinction in the last six years, and have published work in prestigious international journals or publishing houses. The Sofja Kovalevskaja Award allows you to spend five years building up a working group and working on a high-profile, innovative research project of your own choice at a research institution of your own choice in Germany.
