The Fine Arts Work Center offers a unique residency for writers and visual artists in the crucial early stages of their careers. Located in Provincetown, Massachusetts, an area with a long history as an arts colony, the Work Center provides seven-month Fellowships to twenty Fellows each year in the form of living/work space and a modest monthly stipend. Residencies run from October 1 through April 30. Fellows have the opportunity to pursue their work independently in a diverse and supportive community of peers. A historic fishing port, Provincetown is situated at the tip of Cape Cod in an area of spectacular natural beauty, surrounded by miles of dunes and National Seashore beaches. Program: Fellows are expected to live and work in Provincetown during the fellowship year. Optional group activities provide Fellows with the opportunity to meet program committee members as well as visiting artists and writers. The Stanley Kunitz Common Room is the site of frequent presentations by distinguished guests, as well as readings by writing Fellows. Visual arts Fellows present shows in the Work Center's Hudson D. Walker Gallery. Visiting artists and writers engage in dialogue with Fellows throughout the year. The Fine Arts Work Center also seeks to identify local and national venues for Fellows and former Fellows to share their work.

Since 1956, the Graham Foundation has fostered the development and exchange of diverse and challenging ideas about architecture and its role in the arts, culture, and society. As one of the few funders of individuals in the field of architecture, the foundation's grants provide important support for the work of emerging and established architects, scholars, writers, artists, designers, curators, filmmakers, and other individuals. To apply for an individual grant, applicants must submit an Inquiry Form-the first stage of a two-stage application process. The online Inquiry Form will be available on our website until the deadline on September 15, 2019.

An organization that applies to the Challenge America category, may not submit another application to the Grants for Arts Projects category. You may apply to other National Endowment for the Arts funding opportunities, including Our Town, in addition to Challenge America. In each case, the request must be for a distinctly different project or a distinctly different phase of the same project, with a different period of performance and costs. The Arts Endowment's support of a project may start on or after January 1, 2021. Grants awarded under these guidelines generally may cover a period of performance of up to two years. An organization that has received Challenge America grants in FY 2018, 2019, and 2020 may not apply for a Challenge America grant under these FY 2021 guidelines. That organization may apply for FY 2021 support under other National Endowment for the Arts funding opportunities including Grants for Arts Projects. Grant Program Description The Challenge America category offers support primarily to small and mid-sized organizations for projects that extend the reach of the arts to underserved populations -- those whose opportunities to experience the arts are limited by geography, ethnicity, economics, or disability. Age alone (e.g., youth, seniors) does not qualify a group as underserved; at least one of the underserved characteristics noted above also must be present. Provide details about the underserved audience you select in your application using relevant statistics and anecdotal information. Proposals should detail the efforts made to reach the identified underserved population. Grants are available for professional arts programming and for projects that emphasize the potential of the arts in community development

Grant applications previously submitted to the Art Works category will now be submitted to the Grants for Arts Projects category. An organization may submit only one application under these FY2021 Grants for Arts Projects guidelines. If an organization applies to the Challenge America category, it may not also apply to the Grants for Arts Projects category. The Arts Endowment's support of a project may start on or after January 1, 2021. Generally, a period of performance of up to two years is allowed. Founded in 2001, the Terra Summer Residency brings together doctoral scholars of American art and emerging artists worldwide for a nine-week residential program in Giverny, France.  The program encourages independent work while providing seminars and mentoring by senior scholars and artists to foster reflection and debate. The Terra Summer Residency provides an opportunity for participants to widen their academic and creative horizons, explore international cultural perspectives, and forge lifelong exchanges and professional networks. In addition to a stipend, fellows receive on-site lodging, use of working facilities, and lunches for the duration of the residency. The residency handbook provides more information about the location, facilities, and residency guidelines. The 2020 Terra Summer Residency will run from June 8 to August 7.

The Minority Arts and Education Fund (MAEF) is a supporting organization of the Cleveland Foundation that seeks to strengthen and build the capacity of organizations that promote the arts and cultures of communities of color, and to provide meaningful creative opportunities for artists of color. 

The Cooperative Agreement will begin no earlier than June 1, 2020, and may extend for up to 24 months. Program Description: More than 500,000 members of the United States armed services live with traumatic brain injuries and related psychological health conditions. The Creative Forces: NEA Military Healing Arts Network (Creative Forces)-a program of the National Endowment for the Arts (Arts Endowment) in partnership with the U.S. Departments of Defense (DoD) and Veterans Affairs (VA) and state and local arts agencies-places creative arts therapies at the core of patient-centered care for the military patients and veterans who are affected by these conditions, as well as their caregivers and families. Since it was established in 2012, Creative Forces has reached more than 7,000 service members and currently treats approximately 3,500 new patients annually at 11 military and veterans facilities. Up to six additional facilities, for a new total of 17, are expected to join the Creative Forces network by the end of 2020.

Established in 2016, the fellowship is a research-focused residency program for individuals whose research will benefit from access to London's institutions, libraries, practices, professionals, and other unique resources. The program is based at Wimbledon House, which was designed by Lord Richard Rogers in the late 1960s. Each of the six fellows receives a three-and-a-half-month residency at Wimbledon House, as well as roundtrip travel expenses, a $10,000 cash stipend, and unique access to London's resources. Lodging includes a private bedroom with a desk and a private bathroom.

The Harry Ransom Center fellowship program at the University of Texas at Austin was established in 1989 under the directorship of Thomas F. Staley to encourage and facilitate use of the center's collections for scholarly inquiry. The program enables scholars from around the world to visit the center and conduct on-site research in its extensive collections of manuscripts, rare books, photographs, artworks, and other materials documenting America's cultural history and the creative process In 2020-21, the center will award ten dissertation fellowships and up to fifty postdoctoral fellowships for projects that require substantial on-site use of the center's collections. The collections support research in all areas of the humanities, including literature, photography, film, art, the performing arts, music, and cultural history. Through the program, recipients receive $3,500 per month for one to three months. Travel stipends and dissertation fellowships provide stipends of $2,000. International fellows will receive an additional $500 to offset visa and travel costs.

Through the program, grants will be awarded in support of projects that create and disseminate specialized knowledge, including archival projects, development and dissemination of scholarly databases, documentation projects, museum exhibitions and publications, photographic campaigns, scholarly catalogs and publications, and technical and scientific studies. The program also supports activities that permit art historians to share their expertise through international exchanges, professional meetings, conferences, symposia, consultations, the presentation of research, and other professional events.

To advance this mission, the center is inviting applications for its Artist Fellows program. Through the program, two grants of up to $20,000 will be awarded to advance, expand, and support the creation of new research and knowledge through craft practice. Proposals are welcome from mid-career artists, artisans, designers, makers, sculptors, and others who identify their practice within the field of craft. The center, and by extension this grant, recognizes craft to be a particular approach to making with a strong connection to materials, skill, and process.

To advance that mission, the organization is inviting applications for its Cultural Exchange Fund,  a travel grant program supported by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation that assists U.S.-based APAP members in building partnerships and collaborations outside the United States. Through the program, grants of up to $2,000 (for individuals) or $10,000 (for groups) will be awarded in support of opportunities for presenting organizations and individual artists to experience the work of artists from around the world in its original cultural context, or to develop and advance projects with foreign artists and their collaborators.

Through the program, ten fellowships of $36,000 (with an additional $4,000 in the form of a travel and research allowance) will be awarded to graduate students at any stage of PhD dissertation research or writing who are exploring topics in the history of the visual arts of the United States. The fellowships are portable and may be carried out in residence at the fellow's home institution or at another appropriate site. Projects should be focused foremost on the art object and/or image and employ an art-historical or visual studies approach. Although the topic may be historically and/or theoretically grounded, proposals whose emphases are predominantly socio-historical will not be considered. Students with appropriate projects whose degrees will be granted by departments other than art history are eligible only if the principal dissertation advisor is in a department of art history. Students preparing theses for the Master of Fine Arts degree are not eligible.

Lighthouse Works is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts organization devoted to encouraging the development of artists and the enrichment of the year-round cultural and economic vitality of Fishers Island, New York. To that end, the organization has issued an open call for applications for its spring 2020 fellowship program sessions. Fellowships are six weeks in length and provide fellows with housing, food, studio space, a $250 travel allowance, and a $1,500 stipend. The fellows live together in a farmhouse dating from the late 1800s with a small vegetable garden in the front. Each fellow has a private bedroom and access to a shared bathroom, kitchen, and living space. In addition, Lighthouse Works maintains a wood and metal shop, a Paragon kiln, a black-and-white darkroom, and a letterpress print shop, all of which are available to fellows. While in residence, fellows' primary obligation is the solitary pursuit of their work, though every fellow is asked to participate in an artist talk on the first weekend of the fellowship and to open their studio for an afternoon at the session's conclusion.

The Center for Craft, Creativity, & Design Artist Fellowship is one of four hubs that make up the Craft Research Fund, which was created to encourage, expand, and support scholarly craft research in the United States To advance this mission, the center is inviting applications for its Artist Fellows program. Through the program, two grants of up to $20,000 will be awarded to advance, expand, and support the creation of new research and knowledge through craft practice. Proposals are welcome from mid-career artists, artisans, designers, makers, sculptors, and others who identify their practice within the field of craft. The center, and by extension this grant, recognizes craft to be a particular approach to making with a strong connection to materials, skill, and process. Examples of craft research identified by the center include but are not limited to archive and museum-based research; material innovations and experimentation; process-oriented research/innovation; historical research; collaborations among artists and/or with other disciplines and/or institutions; and other projects that have the potential to transform questions that are being asked in an academic context. To be eligible, applicants must be 21 or older, eligible to receive taxable income in the United States, and have been living and working in the U.S. for the last two years and for the duration of the fellowship period. With support from the Henry Luce Foundation, the American Council of Learned Societies is inviting applications for its Luce/ACLS Dissertation Fellowships in American Art. Through the program, ten fellowships of $36,000 (with an additional $4,000 in the form of a travel and research allowance) will be awarded to graduate students at any stage of PhD dissertation research or writing who are exploring topics in the history of the visual arts of the United States. The fellowships are portable and may be carried out in residence at the fellow's home institution or at another appropriate site. Projects should be focused foremost on the art object and/or image and employ an art-historical or visual studies approach. Although the topic may be historically and/or theoretically grounded, proposals whose emphases are predominantly socio-historical will not be considered. Students with appropriate projects whose degrees will be granted by departments other than art history are eligible only if the principal dissertation advisor is in a department of art history. Students preparing theses for the Master of Fine Arts degree are not eligible. To be eligible, applicants must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States and be enrolled at degree-granting institutions in the U.S. Applicants also must have completed all requirements for the PhD except the dissertation by the beginning of the award period. The Caxton Club, founded in 1895 to support "the literary study and promotion of the arts pertaining to the production of books," extends its call for entries for its 2019 - 2020 grants. Grants are awarded for expenses of up to $2,500 (each) for book-related projects to be completed during academic year 2019 - 2020. Grants totaling up to $10,000 will be awarded. Eligibility: Applicants must be enrolled in a Midwestern university graduate program during the academic year 2019 - 2020 with a project in one of the following areas:   Bibliography Book arts History of the book Library studies Print culture studies Zines Library workers and other professionals seeking additional training in the above fields are encouraged to apply. Applicants are required to submit samples of work in support the grant application. Book arts applicants should submit either a mock up dummy of the project, if available, or previous work. Bibliography and history applicants may include samples of their previous written work.

The Arts Endowment's support of a project may start on May 1, 2020, or any time thereafter. Grants generally may cover a period of performance of up to two years, with an exception for projects that include primary data collection as part of the proposed activity. Projects that include primary data collection may request up to three years. Grant Program Description These grants support research that investigates the value and/or impact of the arts, either as individual components of the U.S. arts ecology or as they interact with each other and/or with other domains of American life. Research Grants in the Arts offers support for projects in two areas: * Track One: Value and Impact. These are matching grants ranging from $10,000-$30,000 for research projects that aim to examine the value and/or impact of the arts in any topic area(s) by using data and methods appropriate to the proposed research questions. * Track Two: Experimental and Quasi-Experimental Designs. These are matching grants ranging from $30,000-$100,000 for research projects that aim to test the causal or inferred-causal impact of the arts on individual or cohort outcomes by using experimental or quasi-experimental design methods appropriate to the proposed research questions.
