The Arts in Education Model Development and Dissemination (AEMDD) program supports the enhancement, expansion, documentation, evaluation, and dissemination of innovative, cohesive models that are based on research and have demonstrated that they effectively-(1) integrate standards- based arts education into the core elementary and middle school curriculum; (2) strengthen standards-based arts instruction in these grades; and (3) improve students' academic  performance, including their skills in creating, performing, and responding to the arts. Projects funded through the AEMDD program are intended to increase the amount of nationally available information on effective models for arts education that integrate the arts with standards-based education programs.

The Malevich Society is a not-for-profit organization based in New York dedicated to advancing knowledge about the Russian artist Kazimir Malevich and his work. In the belief that Malevich was a pioneer of modern art who should be recognized for his key contributions to the history of Modernism, the Society awards grants to encourage research, writing, and other activities relating to his history and memory. The Society welcomes applications from scholars of any nationality, and at various stages of their career. Graduate students are welcome to apply to the Society's grants after completing at least one year of dissertation research. Proposed projects should increase the understanding of Malevich and his work, or augment historical, biographical, or artistic information about Malevich and/or his artistic legacy. The Society also supports translations and the publication of relevant texts.

The award recipient must come from an economically disadvantaged household, have attended a public school, participated in extracurricular programs including (an/or in addition to) programs supported by the Americans for the Arts (i.e., demonstrate a long term participation in the study of, creation in and/or performance in one or more art forms, including dance, music theatre, literary, visual/media arts), excelled academically, and  formally declared the intent to study and apply economics in their pursuit of higher education and professional career.  This includes the direct study of economics for policy purposes, to applications in the private and public sectors.  The scholarship is open to both recent high school graduates and current college undergraduates who are majoring in economics and/or the arts.

Acting as a catalyst for the development of exceptional and imaginative ideas, Creative Capital supports artists whose work is provocative, timely and relevant; who are deeply engaged with their art forms and demonstrate a rigorous commitment to their craft; who are boldly original and push the boundaries of their genre; and who create work that has the potential to reshape the cultural landscape. This year, the New York City-based artist support organization is accepting Letters of Inquiry for awards in the areas of Moving Image (formerly Film/Video) and Visual Arts. 1) Moving Image projects may include animation, experimental film or video, installation, interdisciplinary projects, non-traditional documentary, or narrative. Projects may be intended for projection, hand-held devices, the Web, television, galleries, etc. 2) Visual Arts projects may include architecture/design, contemporary crafts, installation, interdisciplinary projects, moving image, painting, photo-based work, public art, sculpture, or works on paper. Projects may be site-specific or intended for display in galleries, on the Web, etc. Awardees will receive up to $50,000 in direct support for their project and advisory services valued at more than $40,000.

The University of Delaware Library and the Delaware Art Museum invite applications for the 2014 joint Fellowship in Pre-Raphaelite Studies. This one-month Fellowship is intended for scholars working on the Pre-Raphaelites and their associates. Up to $3,000 is available. The Delaware Art Museum is home to the most important collection of Pre-Raphaelite art in the US. Assembled largely by Samuel Bancroft, Jr., the collection includes paintings, works on paper, decorative arts, manuscripts, and letters, and is augmented by the museum's Helen Farr Sloan art library. With comprehensive holdings in books, periodicals, electronic resources, and microforms, the University of Delaware Library is a major resource for the study of literature and art. The Special Collections Department contains material related to the Pre-Raphaelites, who are also well-represented in the Mark Samuels Lasner Collection of Victorian books, manuscripts, and artworks.

The Surdna Foundation is accepting proposals through its Artists Engaging in Social Change funding area for one- or two-year support for extraordinary artist-driven projects. Grants of up to $150,000 over two years will be awarded in support of compelling artists projects developed in response to specific challenges in their communities, as well as projects by artists whose work over the long term has increased social engagement without necessarily being explicitly defined as "activist."  All artistic disciplines will be considered, including cross-disciplinary work. The funds are designated for one-time project support and cannot support organizations' ongoing programs, operations, capital, or endowments, although up to 15 percent administrative overhead is allowed. To be eligible, projects must be artist-led and demonstrate a deep commitment to a community, as demonstrated by the process through which the work is developed and the theme or themes on which it is focused. Applicants can be at any stage of their careers but must have a track record of developed work that demonstrates their capacity to complete the proposed project and to manage the level of funds requested. Both 501(c)(3) organizations and individual artists are eligible to apply, but artists and collectives that are not incorporated as 501(c)(3)s must apply under a fiscal sponsor. The Getty Foundation fulfills the philanthropic mission of the Getty Trust by supporting individuals and institutions committed to advancing the greater understanding and preservation of the visual arts in Los Angeles and around the world. Through strategic grant initiatives, the foundation works to strengthen art history as a global discipline, promote the interdisciplinary practice of conservation, increase access to museum and archival collections, and develop current and future leaders in the visual arts. It carries out its work in collaboration with the other Getty programs to ensure that they individually and collectively achieve maximum effect.

Grants are awarded to projects that create and disseminate specialized knowledge, including archival projects, as well as for the development and dissemination of scholarly databases, documentation projects, museum exhibitions and publications, photographic campaigns, scholarly catalogs and publications, and technical and scientific studies. The program also supports activities that permit art historians to share their expertise through international exchanges, professional meetings, conferences, symposia, consultations, the presentation of research, and other professional events.

The Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan, is pleased to announce an open competition for eligible organizations to submit applications to carry out a program to document and/or strengthen Afghanistan's traditional forms of cultural expression. For the purposes of this NOFO, traditional forms of cultural expression include but are not limited to musical composition and performance, dance and performing arts, poetry and oral traditions, traditional celebrations, and knowledge exchange from master to student in any form of cultural expression. Proposals with an educational component such as internship activities, educational outreach, capacity building, or training of students and young professionals are encouraged. Proposals must include a well-defined plan to raise public awareness of Afghan heritage, especially among youth, and a sustainability plan. Commercial activities, including the sale of products or tickets to performances, are not permitted.

The Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University is accepting applications for its 2019-2020 Fellowship Program Through the program, stipends of up to $77,500 for one year with additional funds for project expenses will be awarded to individuals working in the creative arts, humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and mathematics to pursue projects within their fields. In addition, some support for relocation expenses is provided where relevant. In addition to the stipend, fellows receive office or studio space and access to libraries and other resources of Harvard University during the fellowship year, which runs from early September 2019 through May 31, 2020. Visual, film, and video artists may apply for either one or two semesters. In the event that they come for one semester, the stipend is $38,750. Radcliffe Fellows are expected to devote themselves full time to the work outlined in their proposal. Since this is a residential fellowship, fellows are expected to reside in the Boston area during the fellowship period and to have their primary office at the institute to participate fully in the life of the community. The deadline for individual applications in the creative arts, humanities, and social sciences is September 13, 2018. For applications in the natural sciences and mathematics, the deadline is October 4, 2018.

The purpose of this Program Solicitation is to select an organization(s) (Cooperator) to undertake the Research Labs program. In brief, the Cooperator will: · Plan and implement a research program, including an exemplar study, in one of the NEA's three proposed topic areas. · The research program must include these components: 1. Development of an evidence-based research agenda; 2. Planning and implementation of a keystone (i.e., an exemplar) study, or a series of studies; 3. Production of at least one research report for each research study; 4. Fulfilling ad hoc analyses or information requests concerning the Research Lab research agenda; 5. Dissemination of findings, research products, tools or services, data, and communications to project stakeholders and to the public; and 6. Preparation and delivery of a briefing to the NEA on needs for continued work in the proposed research topic area, with recommendations both on how other research organizations working in the proposed area could be better supported by the agency and how the Research Lab can be sustained in the future.

With support from the Henry Luce Foundation, the American Council of Learned Societies is inviting applications for its Luce/ACLS Dissertation Fellowships in American Art. Through the program, ten fellowships of $36,000 (with an additional $4,000 in the form of a travel and research allowance) will be awarded to graduate students at any stage of PhD dissertation research or writing who are exploring topics in the history of the visual arts of the United States. The fellowships are portable and may be carried out in residence at the fellow's home institution or at another appropriate site. Projects should be focused foremost on the art object and/or image and employ an art-historical or visual studies approach. Although the topic may be historically and/or theoretically grounded, proposals whose emphases are predominantly socio-historical will not be considered. Students with appropriate projects whose degrees will be granted by departments other than art history are eligible only if the principal dissertation advisor is in a department of art history. Students preparing theses for the Master of Fine Arts degree are not eligible. To be eligible, applicants must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States and be enrolled at degree-granting institutions in the U.S. Applicants also must have completed all requirements for the PhD except the dissertation by the beginning of the award period. An organization may submit only one application under these FY2021 Grants for Arts Projects guidelines. The Arts Endowment's support of a project may start on or after June 1, 2021. Generally, a period of performance of up to two years is allowed. When Herb Block died in October 2001, he left $50 million and instructions to create a foundation that would encourage the art of editorial cartooning and support charitable and educational programs aimed at promoting the causes he championed during his seventy-two years of cartooning. As such, the Herb Block Foundation is committed to defending basic freedoms, combating all forms of discrimination and prejudice, and improving the condition of the poor and underprivileged. The foundation also seeks to provide educational opportunities through scholarships and to promote editorial cartooning through continuing research.

A single grant of up to $15,000 will be awarded to a mid-career professional whose research project relates to the appreciation, interpretation, preservation, study, and teaching of European art, architecture, and related disciplines, from antiquity to the early nineteenth century, in the context of historic preservation in the United States. Potential Kress Fellow projects could include the exploration of shared European and American influences in style, design, materials, construction techniques, building types, conservation and interpretation methodologies, philosophical and theoretical attitudes, and other factors applicable to preservation in both Europe and America.

The Public Affairs Section (PAS) of U.S. Embassy Ulaanbaatar, U.S. Department of State, is pleased to announce that funding is available through its Public Diplomacy Local Grants Program. This Annual Program Statement outlines funding priorities and the procedures for submitting funding requests. Purpose of Local Grants: PAS awards a limited number of grants and cooperative agreements to individuals, non-governmental organizations, think tanks, and academic institutions to support cultural, artistic, educational, and other exchanges and projects to improve mutual understanding between the United States and Mongolia and build people-to-people ties. PAS will only consider grant proposals that include an American component or element.

The Native Arts and Cultures Foundation has issued a call for applications to established American Indian and Alaska Native artists to mentor an emerging American Indian and Alaska Native artist apprentice through its for its NACF Mentor Artist Fellowship program. Through the program, mentors will develop lesson plans intended to increase their apprentice's skill level, and provide an experience of intergenerational exchange of cultural knowledge within the apprentice's traditional arts or contemporary visual arts practice. To assist in developing lesson plans, awarded mentors and their apprentices are required to attend a training session before the mentorship begins. The training date will be announced upon notification of the awards. The fellowship provides a monetary award of $30,000 total - $20,000 for the mentor, $5,000 for the joint art project, and $5,000 for the apprentice's expenses.

The Children's Theatre Foundation of America's grantmaking focus is on theatre for children and youth, the utilization of drama or theatre in education for children grades K-12, and development opportunities for theatre artists working in the area of children's theatre in the United States. The Foundation's Aurand Harris Grants and Fellowship Fund supports small and mid-sized nonprofit theatres that are engaged in a new initiative for a particular company or a new original play for children and youth. Professional theatre artists working in theatre for young audiences may also apply for support in the development of their artistic excellence. Grants range up to $2,000 and may be used for project expenses, equipment, or travel. The application deadline is March 5, 2018. The Prairie Ronde Artist Residency is located in historic Vicksburg, Michigan, near Kalamazoo. The residency provides access to the 420,000 square foot former Lee Paper Company paper mill and its adjacent 80 acres of property to use as inspiration. Artists are also encouraged to utilize our close ties to members of the village community and the area's creative community. We're looking for individuals who are highly independent, engaged and curious. We do not limit our residency to any specific medium but, rather, are looking for people who can creatively interact with the space we have to offer and the community of historic Vicksburg. We provide housing and studio space for one resident at a time, three times a year. We're offering a stipend of $2,000 for 4 - 7 weeks, a $500 travel grant, and use of a car. We ask that the artist propose some sort of community "give back" like a workshop, final show or open studio days and that they donate a piece of work to our collection.
