It's an iPad program for teachers and students. If a school has a iPad cart, the iPads are distributed to a class of students and then the teacher uses his/her iPad to push PPt's, movies, documents to the students individual iPads. It's very interactive and the teacher can wait for students to respond on their iPads (questions, drawings, quizzes, etc.) before going forward with the lesson. The teacher obtains a roster of students participating and see how each is doing with the lesson tasks.

Audacity Tip Sheet for Students--succinct. If your students use Audacity to record sound (for podcasts), this is helpful. Remember Audcity files have to be converted into mp3. Most students struggle with finding LAME, which only has to be clicked on once.Obviously, this is for PCs and not Mac.

Character Scrapbook from Scholastic will help students analyze books; one short coming is that you can't save and revisit, so you must have students print out or take a screenshot. Recommended to me by one of my grad students, Collen Van Cura.

Edumodo has lots of potential for teachers and students; you can control who is part of the group and you can monitor, two important considerations with social media and students.

iPad app for students--you can insert text for students to practice fluency or use as a teleprompter for choral reading. Free, of course, and easy to use.

iPad/iPhone--App for recording student behavior. Free verson allows you to follow 5 students on 3 behaviors. Pro-version is customizable and probably worth the money--good reviews on Teacher's Assistant Pro. I might try the free version first and then upgrade.

Looks like a great app (android and iPhone)--save student exemplars/artifacts and can organize them. Check out 'Three Ring'.

Storykit has lots of potential for publishing students' writing--narration too.

Participation (in class) with new mouse mischief--will work if students have access to computer during PPt. Curious to see this in action.

Great idea for incorporating students from your classroom within goodle earth--e.g, your students could tour a particular area and report out--great culminaton.

Good ideas for teaching students how to navigate and use digital texts. We know that more and more students are reading online and with mobile devices, good informative blog entry from Tech & Learning (2-9-11).

Good look at use of social media by students...some of the conclusions from correlations are worrisome...still important information.

Collaborize classroom looks very interesting and it's free. Encourages student engagement, shares lesson plans and more. Pretty strong endorsements of website as well. Worth checking out.

Google app scripts have the potential to provide meaningful feedback to students with in reasonable time frames. Worth a look.

I am a big fan of diigo (social bookmarking), which is not typically used in schools and I think it should be used much more. Here's a sensible approach to using with students.
