Duke University project uses iPads in a pilot for Global Health course

This short video demonstrates some possible directions E-books may take.

This lecture is used in a course on HIV at the School of Nursing online lecture by Elizabeth Pisani, a British epidemiologist who wrote the book The Wisdom of Whores: Bureaucrats, Brothels, and the Business of AIDS. She is a great speaker, and the folks in my HIV class loved it. She talks about the first needle exchange program in the world, which was--get this--started by Margaret Thatcher

More about the Google Body Browser, including the author's take on why it is a good patient education tool. I like the idea that there could be overlays that demonstrate particular diseases or conditions and that it could someday be linked to an electronic health record.

I ran across this beautifully done video story today, and thought it might be a good resource for community health. I could see it as an intro to a discussion board prompt, e.g. Is a clinic like this ethical?

This article talks about Google Body, a 3-D model of human anatomy that is available free online through Google. It's pretty neat. Certainly an inexpensive way for students to explore anatomy at their own pace.

What are you all doing with clickers/educational response systems? Are they worth the financial investment? What do you do with the data after you've collected it from students?

An alternative to using clickers for audience/student response

This video is of Michael Wesch talking to the Library of Congress is a must see for educators. Whe you have 55 minutes, you should watch it. It's worth your time, I promise. Wesch also spoke at the CHAT festival in Chapel Hill earlier this year that Newman and I attended. He hit on some of the same points, but this talk below is quite extradordinary. It is an expansion of his short video by the same name.
