Giving Students Audio-Visual Feeback - Jing Blog - 2 views

  •
Another example of using Jing, a previous iNET featured tool, to give student feedback. Jing is a free and simple to use screenrecording application, which is perfect for recording short 'screencasts', tutorials, instructions, and annoucements.

I did similar screen casts when I taught graphic design. It was so much better than textually critiquing something very visual...and it took less time. The students liked the video because it helped them "See" the things they could improve upon and they liked hearing the tone of the voice which helped eliminate any misinterpretations of the critique...meaning I wasn't out to get them.

Moodle for iPhone Demo - 2 views

This is a 5-min video clip demonstrating the iPhone-Moodle app. Impressive technology... also watch out for the music! Since the iPhone and the iPad share a similar operating system, this technology might also be useable on iPad. Technology similar to this in combination with the increasing availability of 4th Generation, WiMax, technology takes learning to a new level.

This lecture is used in a course on HIV at the School of Nursing online lecture by Elizabeth Pisani, a British epidemiologist who wrote the book The Wisdom of Whores: Bureaucrats, Brothels, and the Business of AIDS. She is a great speaker, and the folks in my HIV class loved it. She talks about the first needle exchange program in the world, which was--get this--started by Margaret Thatcher
