The Vann Molyvann Project - 0 views

  •
"The Project The Vann Molyvann Project aims to call attention to one of the most important collections of modern architecture in the developing world; to rigorously document it; and to inspire a new generation of architects--American and Cambodian--to create a contemporary architecture that responds to the demands of context, climate and culture. In October of 2010, a collection of drawings, models and photographs prepared by a team of Cambodian and American architects and students was presented at the French Cultural Centre in Phnom Penh. The materials were then displayed at the Phnom Penh International Airport in the Summer of 2011. We are now in the process of arranging for the exhibition to travel abroad. "

Teaching with Technology in the Middle: Diigo for Digital Writing Reflection - 0 views

"Assessment of how students meet these goals is done by the students themselves, as for each piece they publish they write a reflection where they identify and explain aspects of their piece that show the following: -evidence of themselves as thinkers -evidence of using revision to improve their writing -evidence of how they worked through challenges I love using this method as a way to assess my students' writing, which I was introduced to last summer at the UNC Charlotte Writing Project. It focuses students attention on their own process, encourages them to try new ideas and approaches, respects their diversity, and guides students in being better able to talk about their own thinking and learning. Up until today, I've been having my students complete this reflective/metacognitive assignment by responding to these directions on their own sheet of paper, which they then would turn in to me. But this morning while I was preparing my class for the day, it occurred to me that Diigo's web highlighter and sticky note tools would allow students to carry out that same assignment without paper. In addition, it would also take students less time to complete, let others read the reflections they wrote, and make it easier for me to access and assess their work. "

Teacher's Trial by Tech - 1:1 Programme « syded - 0 views

As a school we are trialling a year 7 class of 30 students with iPad2 and an optional sign up for staff. The staff trial will last 6 weeks, before the students are given a device for the summer term. The hope is that this will allow us to identify key issues with pedagogy and staff development alongside concerns with our wireless network.

Jeff again! The 2009-2010 school year ended for me early today and I'm just wrapping up a few loose ends before I head into vacation mode for the summer. I did want to release the Free PDF of the Web-Based Portfolio series I've been working on for the past couple of months. I've taken the four blog posts and put them into this PDF that you can download and use if you would like.

F is for First Lessons « An A-Z of ELT - 0 views

The Methods course that I am teaching this summer has just embarked on a short round of teaching practice classes. To help the teachers plan their first lesson, I pulled a few old favourites out of the drawer. They are roughly divided into those that have a mainly interpersonal function (such as forging a collaborative group dynamic) and those that are primarily diagnostic (identifying strengths, weaknesses, interests, and styles). Feel free to post variants, additions - or attributions (apart from the few I dreamed up myself, such as the star warmer, I have no idea who invented the rest).
