"Join us on 10.10.10 for an unprecedented event. Every Nation, 24 hours, and You. On October 10, 2010 (10.10.10), across the planet, documentary filmmakers, students, and inspired citizens will record the human experience over a 24-hour period and contribute their voice to the largest participatory media event in history. Founded in 2008, ONE DAY ON EARTH is creating an online community, shared archive, and film. Together, we will showcase the amazing diversity, conflict, tragedy, and triumph that occur in one day. We invite you to join our international community of thousands of filmmakers, hundreds of schools, and dozens of non-profits, and contribute to this unique global mosaic. Through the One Day on Earth platform, we will establish a community that not only watches, but participates."

"Personification Stories View Student Lesson Plan Export Lesson Plan Example: * Crossing Signal * Brainstorm Example Template: * Brainstorm Traits Worksheet * Project Vision * Project Storyboard Assessment: * Story Rubric * Animation Rubric Grade Level: 3, 4 and 5 Subject: Language Arts Duration: 1 week Objective: Students learn to use personification as they personify an object for a clay animation. Students use conflict, experiences, and situations to help the viewer imagine what it might be like to be a particular object."

You can use personification to make your writing more interesting. Personification is a figure of speech in which human qualities are given to objects, animals, or ideas. For example: the fire breathed hot in our faces and its flames grabbed at our clothes, or the chocolate cake is calling my name. You can find personification at work in lots of different types of writing. Lewis Carroll's uses lots of personification in The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland. Remember the white rabbit and Alice playing croquet with a deck of cards?

Knoword | Expand your vocabulary! - 0 views

"Knoword is a game of quick thinking, smart decisions and great words. When you begin, you will be given one randomly generated dictionary definition along with the first letter of its corresponding word. You must fill in the rest of the word to experience a gain in points and an added time bonus. You will start off with one minute before the game ends, and every word is an opportunity to extend your time. If you're ever stuck on a word, just hit the skip button and a new puzzle will present itself."

I had two eye-opening experiences this week, both really got me thinking about online sharing, curation of digital versus "real" work (E-portfolios) , and overall student learning, both in terms of motivation for and expressions of. The first was the grade 10 MYP Personal Project exhibition, the second my daughter, Kaia's, student-led conference for her PYP Kindergarten class.

iPaddiction: Student-Led Conferences: Parents & Students Engaged! - 0 views

  •
The parents and students were engaged because the students really knew how to maneuver the iPad to demonstrate all of the work that they completed. I could sense that students were taking pride in showing their online professional portfolio, creations, and tweets. I am also thrilled that the professional blogs are a year-to-date body of work. We didn't just show them tests as was in the past, but all the learning experiences that have occurred along the journey. Students had an agenda that they were to follow and parents totally wanted to hear all about it. Some parents and students were present for over a half hour!
