Math Arcade on Funbrain... can you win all 25 games? - 0 views

  •
The Fun Brain Math Arcade, (www.funbrain.com/brain/MathBrain/MathBrain.html), covers a wide gamut of math skills and would be great practice for gifted math students. The games start off relatively easy, but soon increase in difficulty to provide the level of challenge required to engage students. There are 25 games in all to complete as you work your way around this virtual board game, and each is presented in a fun and engaging way. As well as basic facts, you will encounter skills like angles, double digit multiplying, and decimals. Each one seamlessly combines video game skills with Math skills. Smart-Kit: Online Puzzles & Games - 0 views

As the self-styled 'puzzle playground' Smart-Kit.com offers plenty of opportunities for your students to explore and flex their mental muscles. There are some great games here that really set it apart from the other sites on this list. For instance, the physics games are very good, the adventure games are taxing, and the quick thinking games really give students the opportunity to perform under pressure. There are even some IQ test questions here that can be used as problems of the day or extension work. Some of my favorite brain games on this site are Truck Loader, Trafficator, and the amazing Little Wheel. Read more: http://www.brighthub.com/education/k-12/articles/106947.aspx#ixzz1EGaRJ6xx

EdTech Toolbox: Student Designed E-books: Challenge Based Learning - 0 views

  • Martin said... Fantastic project Greg and thanks for sharing. Our grade 6 and 7 students in West Vancouver are just now completing a year-long magazine publishing project. Each student selected a topic of interest and throughout the year they have been taught various writing and publishing techniques. We have partnered with a local university graphic design department and their first year design students have been assisting our students with their layout and design, to produce dramatic publications. Our students have been so motivated the entire year. Giving the students choice and a bit of freedom to experiment and collaborate has been enlightening. We really have noticed a significant level of engagement and ownership with all students, including some boys who are not that keen to write. Our completed magazines will be posted on our ISSUU site http://issuu.com/mandrews. Several samples have been posted.
