This can seem like a daunting task for administrators, advisors, and technology coordinators because some teachers fear technology, others are reluctant to start, and some fail to see the need for technology in the classroom. A school's Acceptable Use Policy, or AUP, is a list of technology regulations that require students to use technology responsibly and prevent abuse of school computers. Students are often required to sign this "user contract" in order to use school network computers but unfortunately many sign without reading or understanding the information. The Smart AUP assessment tool is a fun and effective way for students to demonstrate to teachers and administrators that they have read and understand the AUP. In addition, administrators can produce the Smart AUP score report as evidence of a student's policy comprehension if the need arises.

As I reflect on the various free social and web 2.0 education tools that I come across on a daily basis, there is one product that is always in the forefront of my mind. That product is glogster.edu, a site in which students (and teachers and administrators too!) can create online multimedia posters (called "glogs"). Using the term "online multimedia poster" doesn't even begin to describe the transforming power this product has for students and teachers though. There are many benefits of using Glogster for education.
