"What is a Memory Game? In this interactive memory game the player must find the matching pairs of cards. To do this click on a card in the top row and then click on a card in the bottom row. If the cards match the cards remain face up. If not, the cards will turn back over and you can try again until all pairs have been found. Using the Memory Game Maker, you can build your own interactive memory game. You can specify if you want text, pictures or sounds on each row of cards. You can then type in your own text, attach your own pictures or record your own voice. These will appear on the cards in your finished game. Popplet is a new web app that is like Wallwisher on steroids. You can make an online "bulletin-board" with virtual "post-its" (called "popplets), just like in Wallwisher. And, except for the fact you have to register to use it, Popplet is just as easy and, in some ways, easier to use with a lot more functionality. With Popplet, you search for images and videos on the Web directly within the "popplet" instead of copying and pasting the url address (as you need to do in Wallwisher). You can draw within the "popplet" and it doesn't appear to have an limit on the number of characters you can use. You can connect the "popplets." You can also embed the whole thing.

Definitely looking further into this one!

This page allows you to upload hundreds (or thousands) of photos to use used in the mosaic. Just enter your email address, tell us the shape of mosaic you want (square, horizontal, vertical) and the main photo you want us to use for the mosaic, select as many photos as you want from your computer (preferably more than 100) and we do the rest. If page does not load within 10 seconds, click the REFRESH button I did this years ago, after the George Bush/Iraq soldier one came out, looked great!

Without these tools, finding the right image on this image hosting site is often an impossible, or at least a tedious, task. The value of this site is its ability to provide digital pictures which are often impossible for a teacher to obtain any other way. A school's Acceptable Use Policy, or AUP, is a list of technology regulations that require students to use technology responsibly and prevent abuse of school computers. Students are often required to sign this "user contract" in order to use school network computers but unfortunately many sign without reading or understanding the information. The Smart AUP assessment tool is a fun and effective way for students to demonstrate to teachers and administrators that they have read and understand the AUP. In addition, administrators can produce the Smart AUP score report as evidence of a student's policy comprehension if the need arises.

The Blogs O' Persuasion are a set of blogs devoted to 6th grade student viewpoints on a variety of controversial topics. We are using blogging as the platform for students to share their persuasive writing with other students, teachers, and the world! We would welcome any comments for the students' posts, so please let them know what you think. The skills and knowledge that we are addressing through this project are: Evaluating websites and other online resources to gather research and data to support their persuasive position on a topic Collaborating with others and sharing research sources - we used a Google Form to gather sources and posted all the useful links in the Link Library of each blog Writing persuasively! Writing in a digital space. We taught the students how to use hypertext as linktribution and as a means of enriching the readers' experience. Some students also learned how to add CC licensed images to their posts and give proper attribution. Being good digital citizens. We taught the students about using comments appropriately to communicate with their peers about their posts. Some very cool goals done in an authentic and in an interesting way.

"Shakespeare Vocab using Quizlet - Anyone who has read a Shakespeare play will know that there is some funky vocabulary included. Being able to understand this vocab is pivotal to understanding the text. So, after our introduction I had the students study some commonly misunderstood Shakespearean words on Quizlet. They studied the list and did some flashcards and games, then got together with a partner and completed the test. They had fun and it really helped their understanding of Scene I."

50+ Ways to Tell the Dominoe Story Just to prove it can be done, I create the same story as an example for every tool in the list using a story about my first dog, Dominoe. Previously, I created this short story done as a video assembled from still images and audio that was submitted for a 60 Second Story contest Each story below is based on my storyboard and assembled images on flickr and in Picasa . Note that a number of tools allow you to directly import media from these media sites. Below are examples of the same story (over and over again!) I was able to create in the 50+ tools, with both linked versions (on the tool's web site) and embedded versions, using the code provided to embed a media player into this web site. One of the most interesting discoveries was that most of these tools provided the ability to embed the media in other web sites.

"My frustration with Google Apps on iPads is well known, so I'm often asked how I go about addressing this given my use of both. Browsers. Browsers. Browsers. I'm constantly searching for browsers that work between the two. The good is that I can usually find one. The bad is that on any given day an update to either Google or the browser app could mean I'm searching again. Even worse, there is always a give and take on what actually works. Right now, the one I've been using most lately both personally and on our pilot iPads is the Rover browser app."

Today, I had the privilege of teaching a high school staff about tech tools that I have used in my iPad filled classroom. Next year, the high school students will be using an iPad on a daily basis. The iPad will be theirs to use during the school year. This school did the correct thing by getting the iPads into the hands of the teachers well before they are asked to lead students with them. Teachers have had the iPads for about 2 months. The presentation that I used is below. Highlights are listed below the presentation.

Evernote. I know, you must be getting tired of me writing about Evernote. I can't help it. It is an incredibly useful, easy to use, and once you start you have no idea how you lived without it, free resource that I use for literally everything. Evernote has apps for mobile devices, desktop software, and you can access your notes through any web browser.
