50 Open Source Tools To Replace Popular Security Software - Datamation.com - 0 views

  •
For this list, we've compiled a set of open source security tools and their commercial counterparts. We're not suggesting that the open source apps have all the same features and use the same methods as the commercial products they can replace. Instead, we're saying that they provide end users with some of the same benefits and deserve consideration, particularly as businesses small and large look for ways to stretch their budgets.

What is the Technology Footprint in Your Classroom? - 0 views

  •
In contrast to the technology teachers' use in a classroom for their professional use, what is the technology (digital) footprint students' use in your classroom? When effectively integrated into teaching and student learning, technology has the power to transform a classroom into an influential learning community. Within this digital community students use technology tools to create collaborative and personal learning networks to support their learning. So what is the technology footprint? This is the digital toolbox containing offline and online technology tools and programs students select from as they complete assignments or projects. These digital tools may include and not limited to computers, iPod Touches, cell phones, online problem solving situations, blogs, podcasts, interactive websites, and other Web 2.0 tools. ipadbackpack - home - 0 views

  •
"A school leader is always on the go. She needs to stay connected, have access to existing digital media, create new media, collaborate, and communicate. An iPad is a great tool that allows users to have their email, calendar, communication tools, newsfeeds, presentations, teacher/student interaction documentation, and notes all on one small device! The number of apps can be overwhelming, so I always suggest having your main productivity apps on the first screen. Move your secondary, less important, and entertainment apps to a separate screen. Let's create a digital backpack with your iPad."

Gapminder: Unveiling the beauty of statistics for a fact based world view. - Gapminder.org - 0 views

  •
Gapminder - Looking and Playing with Data I found Gapminder through Edutecher.net. This is simply a great way to look at and play with data dealing with global trends and topics. Health, education, climate and poverty are but some of the few areas of research that have been collected and compiled into these interactive graphs. When you launch Gapminder World, you will be able to select values and indicators charted on the graph axes as well as identify and track specific countries. Basically - it is just too hard to describe the power of this online tool. Any teacher that deals or refers to current and historical events and trends will definitely find Gapminder to be compelling tool!

Three benefits of using Glogster, a 21st Century Multimedia tool, in K-12 classrooms | ... - 0 views

  •
As I reflect on the various free social and web 2.0 education tools that I come across on a daily basis, there is one product that is always in the forefront of my mind. That product is glogster.edu, a site in which students (and teachers and administrators too!) can create online multimedia posters (called "glogs"). Using the term "online multimedia poster" doesn't even begin to describe the transforming power this product has for students and teachers though. There are many benefits of using Glogster for education.

CogDogRoo - StoryTools - 0 views

  •
Below you will find 50+ web tools you can use to create your own web-based story. Again, the mission is not to review or try every single one (that would be madness, I know), but pick one that sounds interesting and see if you can produce something. I have used each tool to produce an example of the original Dominoe story, plus links are provided, where available, to examples by other people. Please share your own examples or thoughts in the discussion area of this wiki. Very easy to use and cool site that shares real tools with the teacher in mind.
