Blogging About The Web 2.0 Connected Classroom: Interactive Whiteboards-Sage On The Stage? - 3 views

  • Now, some would argue for the tablets or slates that connect with these IWBs.That is still one kid at a time manipulating and interacting.

I have to wonder about this. I would suggest that some teachers only use the slate as a mobile mouse. I would suggest that if you have an itouch use the air mouse or touchpad elite. This will accomplish the same task. I wonder if this would allow multiple students to use their itouch?
  • Laptops, Netbooks, Document Cameras, Flip Video, anything that gets all kids using technology and interacting with technology, together.

I would have to add to this list...iTouch. I am finding more and more ways to use the iTouch in the teaching/learning environment. The K-12 on-line conference has some great podcasts on this topic. I am also a part of a Diigo group called ipods in education that has some great resources!
  • room my school had 3 IWBs that had never been used before I got there. I had used one in my student teaching and really enjoyed using it and teaching with it. When I discovered there were IWBs in my scho

Around the Corner-MGuhlin.org: Rumor and Myth - GoogleApps in Education Users (please RT) - 0 views

      The FERPA question
  • I challenge GoogleApps for Education--the organization, not the users--to speak up and share the toll-free number they have for technical support, knowledgeable support staff to respond to questions, and HelpDesk for their GoogleApps

This comment does not align with the fact that "helpdesk" models have changed drastically by all software. Perhaps a place for a future business opportunity...? I would say, when it comes to seeking answers for google apps questions, I have always found the answer within a few clicks and searches. There is a good tech support sytem, it just doesn't look and feel the same as the old model.

Project management, collaboration, and task software: Basecamp - 3 views

Might be an excellent tool for development of the tech plans in the districts!

Didn't see much here that Google Apps couldn't do for free. With collaborative calendars, shared docs, group chat, collaborative sites that all work together, it's a pretty powerful tool. And when teachers learn to use it better, they will discover more ways to utilize it in the classroom.

Free Technology for Teachers: Mashpedia - The Real-time Encyclopedia - 0 views

  • Mashpedia could be a great resource for a current events class. By offering video and image results, Mashpedia provides materials that can be accessed by almost all students regardless of reading level. By listing links from multiple sources students can quickly compare news stories to what real people are saying about a story.Mashpedia is also useful as a starting place in a student's quest for multimedia resources about a reference topic such as Winter Olympics or World War II.
  •
So many classes do some kind of "current events,"  why not challenge them to take it to a new level.  This sounds like an incredible tool for bringing in a variety of resources from a single search.

Google makes ed-tech splash with apps marketplace - 1 views

I thought you would be interested in this new app market. I have only looked at few, but I think there may be a bait and switch position for some of these. You have it free for 20 days, but then you have to pay. Time will tell how successful this is.
