Using iPads to help students in third world countries to learn. This is such a good idea so that way the children are able to learn with apps and also can learn to read with this. 

This article talks about how some schools have been using game-based learning to help teach and how effective it is.

This is a winner in the digital media badges for lifelong learning competition. "In the Youth APPLab, middle and high school students in the District of Columbia design software and mobile apps in an after-school program that supplements their formal learning in computer science. They conceive, develop and co-create their own Android Apps. Ultimately, students and their apps will compete for internships with technology-based startup companies in and around the DC area."

It is likely we will be asking for Google Glasses for Christmas. These will be android based glasses that we will wear that include 3G and 4G data connection including sensors and GPS detectors. Prepare for a new form factor -- motion and the human eye, we may not be using tablets at all.

Learning analytics are underused but will be one of the most important tools in our online toolbox. Once we grasp the importance of these, we will be demanding more and more intelligence on behalf of the learning analytics that we use to support elearning, apps, and all of the things our students use as part of their learning toolbox. Interesting video on rfid readers, not sure if the student totally understands RFID readers, but I love how the video is made - by drawing on a board!!

Augmented Reality is enhancing the world around us by using electronic devices to create a reality that is supplemented (or "augmented") with additional information. Sometimes this is location based (using GPS) or uses QR Codes (with QR code readers) and most often with handheld devices making this truly possible. These links are from the Horizon Report 2010.

I've uploaded the portfolio assignment that I use for my one semester 8th grade keyboarding class. It includes movie making, self creation of rubrics, MLA paper writing, memos, block letters, blogging, and an efolio component along with QR Codes. I wanted to share this but also was testing the functionality of the site for sharing resources. Hope you'll share. (Note: KS3 in the UK means grades 7-9 - the site will be adding US grade levels soon.)

Mr. Robbo, the PE Geek, filmed this video on his cell phone about how he uses QR Codes in the classroom. He filmed it on his cellphone and uploaded it to qik -- he is in Australia!

I use QR codes to assess on my iTouch and iPad but if a blog has flash - I just snap a pic with the QR code application for adobe air using the webcam on my pc. I don't have to type in long urls. Anything with a printout of any online material includes a qr code.

QR codes create a hyperlink between a picture in the real world and th eonline world -- this is called mobile tagging and the act of linking is called a hardlink.
