I find this article (based on a video that is also there) very interesting. The author goes through a list of online resources that people can use to find ways to learn languages online. It even offers a link to CALICO (Computer Assisted Language Learning Instruction Consortium) reviewed course.

Video Everywhere is a new technology tool that I am exploring as a way to introduce video into my online classes. I plan to use this tool to introduce my students to each module in my online classes. Video Everywhere recordings benefit all students who need repetitive review of material and feedback. Video assists deaf students as well by allowing them to record and share sign language. Video Everywhere helps students who are enrolled in classes that are taught in non-native languages, giving them exposure to vocabulary and pronunciation according to their Web Site. I am looking forward to incorporating this tool into my classes.

According to ACTFL, foreign language learners need as much as 240+ hours of input to reach an intermediate level of proficiency. I'm looking into ways to use Twitter together with other applications like Feedly to encourage students to become autonomous learners and get more input from authentic francophone listening and reading sources. I can help them navigate through the sea of information available by sending them my suggested feeds and then practice using the target language by discussing topics together. Feedly is used to create a personal list of RSS feeds to favorite online news, video, audio and learning sources and save, publish and/or share them with others via an RSS reader application or even Twitter.

This is a good Wiki for World Language teachers in order to start planning for teaching and learning using ACTFL Standards.

I've used Duolingo with my ESL and Spanish students. Can't wait to try the others, especially the Skype practice.

My students hate writing, especially in math. To create a happy medium I decided to integrate the use of micro-blogging into my classroom to motivate my students to begin to at least use mathematical language in class.

I need to read this article a little closer. We are offering our first fully online language courses for Elem and Interm Spanish this summer. Although the grad students teaching this course will make the same amount of salary as those teaching the hybrid classes, I have a feeling they will be spending a lot more time on it. And then, we have to be careful if they go to their union about the differences in compensation.
