This is the summary that comes with the article. Social networking is a topic I have extensively covered here in Educational Technology and Mobile Learning during this year. I am also preparing an ebook about it which I will publish here in the next coming weeks. Why next coming weeks and not this week ?

Technology in education: if students aren't worried, why are teachers? - 2 views

  •
In this article from The Gaurdian (UK) the author reports on a debate at King's College London where a respected panel and an energetic audience of students discussed the future of online technology and education. While students didn't think it was a big deal, not all of the educators saw technology and education flowing together so smoothly. A very interesting article.

For anyone in education including teachers, students, parents, librarians, schools, and universities. Featuring Wikispaces Classroom and Wikispaces Campus. https://cooper-socialwork.wikispaces.com I like this as a means to have a place for the students in that semester's class so they can access this discussed. Contemplating letting students have access through the subsequent semester, as well.

How to Feed Your Brain With Feedly - 1 views

  •
According to ACTFL, foreign language learners need as much as 240+ hours of input to reach an intermediate level of proficiency. I'm looking into ways to use Twitter together with other applications like Feedly to encourage students to become autonomous learners and get more input from authentic francophone listening and reading sources. I can help them navigate through the sea of information available by sending them my suggested feeds and then practice using the target language by discussing topics together. Feedly is used to create a personal list of RSS feeds to favorite online news, video, audio and learning sources and save, publish and/or share them with others via an RSS reader application or even Twitter.

    Student perceptions on online learning
  •
Very interesting indeed. I have always thought that students are more reflective when they post their responses online than when we are having F2F discussions in the classroom. And now it's supported by surveys. In the end it's true though that even if online courses require more self-motivation and time-management skills, student engagement still relies a lot on how the instructor manages the online classroom. Thanks for posting!
