The Complete Guide To Twitter Hashtags For Education - 8 views

  •
A word or phrase preceded by a "#." How do hashtags work? Twitter can be a busy place with lots of tweets-and thus lots of "noise." A #hashtag is a way to aggregate tweets that are appended with a hashtag. Picture it like a magnet that attracts all messages categorized by that topical word or phrase.

Really useful! I'm still, however, not convinced that Twitter can be useful for much else than brainstorming.. Thanks though!

Here's a free PowerPoint template I built for a recent workshop. I used it to show how to create interactive conversations in PowerPoint using hyperlinks. In this example it's a simple back and forth conversation. This free template could be used as a way to share manager/employee information or perhaps as an FAQ interaction.

Social Media in the Classroom [INFOGRAPHIC] - 3 views

  •
It shouldn't come as a surprise that social media has changed more than just how we pass the time, it has now infused itself into formal learning channels. Although adoption is slow (for instance, only 15% of teachers find value in Facebook, Wiki, and other social networks), time will only show that it will rise. I think that the integration of social media in higher education has its benefits and challenges... however I can say that undisputedly it is one of the better ways of increasing communication between academics and students.
