Today the tension between Iran and other countries is one of the hottest issues in international politics. Not only western countries but a few Muslim countries like KSA also consider Iran to be a threat. Iran is alleged of supporting Shia forces such as Hezbollah, Assad regime and others in different countries. In Syria for instance, Iran is supporting the Assad regime whereas fairly large population of Syria is against the Assad's government which giving rise to anger against Iran. In addition to Syria, Iran has also been alleged of interference in Bahrain, Iraq, Pakistan and other Muslim countries support armed Shia forces. In some countries the interference of Iran has led to quite uncertain situations such as Syria. As a result the Sunni population and leadership are also showing anger against Iran resulting in serious tensions between Sunni and Shia countries. Thus Iran is a serious threat for Muslims' brotherhood worldwide.

The reason of conflicts between the two sects goes back to the seventh century. Sunni refers to the Sunnah, or oral traditions and interpretations of the Koran - a body of work similar to the Jewish Talmud. Sunnis believe that the position of Caliph should be a position to which one is elected by the religious leaders of the Islamic community, and not dependent on direct lineage from Mohammed (PBUH). Shiite comes from the word shia, which means "the party (of Ali). Most Shiites believe that the 12th Imam will reemerge someday as the Mahdi or Messiah, and reassert his leadership of the Islamic world. In the meantime, ayatollahs are elected to serve as caretakers of the faith.

The majority of the world's billion-odd Muslims are Sunnis. Approximately 10 to 15 percent of all Muslims follow the Shiite branch (pronounced Shiite, Shiites or Shia). Beyond that, it gets slightly complicated. Both of them live in different parts of the world. Sunnis form the overwhelming majority in countries such as Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Yemen, Pakistan, Indonesia, Turkey, Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia. Shiites form the majority only in Iran, Iraq, Bahrain, and Azerbaijan, but they constitute sizable minorities in Afghanistan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Syria, and Yemen. Now the question arises, where the both sect differs? There are many reasons,

The Battle of Karbala took place on 10 Muharam i.e. (10 Oct, 680) in Karbala. First group was a small group of relatives and companions of Mohammad's (SAWW) grandson Hazrat Husain (R.A). Second group was yazid's group of large military force and Umayyad Caliph. 10 day period is held every year in muharram by sunni and shia, and called Ashura. If we see the political background of battle of Karbala, we can see it is started from the assassination of Hazrat Usman (R.A) and rebels occupied city of Madina. Then Hazrat Ali ibn Abu Talib was elected as the fourth Caliph.
