Seperti halnya masjid komunitas Turki, masjid komunitas Maroko pun sebenarnya memiliki nama resmi, tapi warga Indonesia lebih cenderung menyebut dengan sebutan masjid komunitas Maroko atau masjid Selwerd. Selwerd di sini menunjuk pada nama tempat (daerah) masjid tersebut berada. Dalam hal komposisi jamaah, masjid ini cenderung lebih plural daripada masjid Turki karena jamaahnya berasal dari berbagai belahan dunia. Banyak jamaah yang berdatangan ke sini karena rata-rata jamaah di sini bisa berbahasa Arab dan Belanda, sehingga bisa lebih akrab dan membaur satu sama lain. Meski cenderung lebih plural, tapi tetap saja ada jamaah mayoritas, dan jamaah dari Timur Tengah lah yang menjadi mayoritas di sini.
