  • The article highlights the settlement between General Electric Co. (GE) and its former attorney Lorene Schaefer of a gender-discrimination lawsuit. Schaefer, former general counsel at GE Transportation, filed the lawsuit in May 2007, which accuses officials of giving unfair preference to men in promotions in top legal jobs. A joint statement issued by GE and Schaefer said that GE was appreciative that Schaefer was willing to resolve the dispute and that Schaefer thanks GE for engaging in this constructive discussions.
