  • I once visited a Spanish classroom in a High School where I observed one of the most ineffective uses of a “Token Economy” that I had ever seen. In this case, students were so concerned with getting their “Pesos” that they lost all interest in the topic (which was suppsedly why they were getting them in the first place). The teacher himself spent large portions of class time debating with the students over whether or not they deserved “Pesos”.

    This is not directly related with education, but I find it helpful for internet searches. Imagine that you find an article link, that is very precious for you but when you click it, it says "this page does not exist anymore" or something else that tell you there is no access. Then, you copy paste the link to this web site and if you are lucky you see the old page, full functional. This is useful especially when you look for old web resources. Good luck :)

    A friend of mine has been in Finland as a teacher. I will share the anecdote she told us. While she was in her first weeks, she gave homework since it is holiday tomorrow, I think she exaggerated the giving homework. Classroom teacher came near to her and said Seçil, what are you doing? Tomorrow is holiday, they need to rest. That's why I am very interested in.

    The author contrasts the MI intelligence with single intelligence and says that single intelligence is not educable, rather it is an innate capacity. As an educator, this criticism for MI is useful for me only because I remember to be critical to the theory and begin to search for weakness of it. Otherwise the authors view of single intelligence (non-educable and innate) shows me, as an educator, no direction about my teaching. So I find the Gardner's view (though it may not be a theory) more compelling than the authors view even if I agree that there are problems with Gardner's word choices. Rather than "multiple intelligence theory" he could use "practices of multiple abilities".
