Based at the Arts House Meat Market CultureLAB is an Arts House an initiative in partnership with Arts Victoria to provide artists and companies with the necessary resources to conceptualise, explore and develop new artistic work. Offering space to rehearse, perform and exhibit as well as administrative and financial support, CultureLAB Expressions of Interest are assessed twice in a 12-month period.

The Abbostsford convent is an artistic community hub in Abbostsford Melbourne. It provides space for "artists, arts practitioners, and arts and creative organisations". In addition to these tenancies, they host three regular markets for independent artists: Sunday Arts @ The Convent, The Makers Market and the Shirts and Skirts Market.

This is not art is an annual festival which happens in Newcastle, NSW. It bills itself as an "independent, emerging and experiemental arts festival". 'This is not art' actually encompasses several smaller festivals which take place under its banner. The festival's aims are to allow artists to "meet and collaborate, share ideas, passions and skills, and showcase...work". Artists can respond to the calls for proposals if they would like to exhibit or perform, or they can also get involved through volunteering. CH

Beginning as a personal project in 2006, the Indie art and design directory is a weblog that features products and listings of a range of independent Australian artists, designers and crafts people. They welcome submissions of websites to include in their listing, as well as applications for exhibition sponsorship, and paid advertising on their site.

This resource is primarily aimed at visual artists, but has a wide range of categories including film, animation, artisan crafts, cartoons and comics and photography. It houses a shop, collections and also a forum. It advertises itself as "a hub for onliine graphic artists to display their creations for feedback and exposure". This site is very interactive. You have options to do the following: start your own free art collection, share it or blog it, download, buy, and see the artist gallery profile. Artworks cna also be rated and the front page is constantly changing to feature new artworks. CH

Eckersley's has monthly art classes and many more services to cater for the crafty persons needs. They also offer the latest promotional, product safety or company information online.

This website has a variety of different artists and musicians. The website creators will make a page for an artist if they like you work. I am happy to say that I was featured on the site as "Freshalex"  This is a good site if you want to get some more exposure, and if you like art in general.

One of the best know artists markets in Melbourne, Rose St Artists Market is held every Saturday in Rose St, Fitzroy and consists of up to 70 stalls each week. Stalls are available from $50-60, and are decided on an application basis. Musicians are also encouraged to apply to perform on market days.

The Melbourne Fringe Festival is an annual multi-arts festival, held in late September, early October every year. They offer advice and support for developing Fringe Festival events, as well as an extensive marking campaign. Their artist resources page contains a number of links to artist resources including venue information, other festivals, local council grants, even job advertisements with the festival itself.

Devised by Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham (Klein Dytham architecture) in 2003, Pecha-kucha is a worldwide event which takes place in over 119 cities across the globe. It provides a forum for people to share and showcase their work and is aimed at people interested or involved in design, architure, art and craft. Each presenter is allowed to show 20 images for 20 seconds each which adds up to a six minute PowerPoint showcase of your work. The Australian Film Television Radio School offers courses short and long in all these areas of the Arts Industry.

Although this site is created overseas it is an interesting one.
