The Abbostsford convent is an artistic community hub in Abbostsford Melbourne. It provides space for "artists, arts practitioners, and arts and creative organisations". In addition to these tenancies, they host three regular markets for independent artists: Sunday Arts @ The Convent, The Makers Market and the Shirts and Skirts Market.

This site has a month at a glance gig guide that can be added to but it is only as big as its user group. The gig information is supplied by the bands and musicians themselves rather than being a "managed" guide that supplies the gig info itself. its a bit like Gig Pig in that it is relying on its membership base to add flesh to the bone. On the Community tag there is an extensive bibliographic list of their blogs, Soulshine has a very large membership but I suspect that they are essentially music fans rather than musicians judging by the small amount of gigs. So the more musos the better, there are over 1000 members here already.

The next Wave Festival happens every two years (next one in 2010) and is aimed at helping new and youth artists get their work out into the community. It aims to provide a platform to encourage innovative and engaging artworks and performances across a range of genres and provide not only stage space but also support and guidance to those in the industry. Rate my drawings is an online drawing community. It provides a place for artists to show and develop their craft and features drawing tutorials, collaborative drawing on-line, chat, forums, competitions and feedback through ratings. It also has a link to rate my animations.
