Intute is a free online service providing a database of hand selected Web resources for education and research. These resources can't be downloaded and so embedded in local teaching resources but you can link out to these sites from local resources or refer students to these websites.
MedEd Portal is the AAMC's digital library of peer reviewed e-learning resources. These resources are free to use and made available to teachers under the Creative Commons Licence. To search and download the resources you will need to create an account.

HEAL is a digital library of peer reviewed digital learning resources that can be downloaded and used/reproduced in local teaching resources. To download content you will need to register for a free account. Collections include anatomical illustrations from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland
An online tutorial developed by Intute and JISC giving an overview of how to use the web to search for medical resources. It highlights some of the key web sites for medicine including professional organisations, subject gateways, databases, electronic journals and learning and teaching materials.
This site at the University of Virginia has links to a number of physical examination videos. These are Quicktime files so you will need the Quuicktime player to run them. These can be used in education under the Creative Commons Licence. University of Virginia have had these resources peer reviewed by MedEd Portal.
An interactive resource that introduces all the essential elements of human tissue: after reading a short text, visitors working singly or together to identify the photographs. Students are asked to identify structures on the slides and can then click the answers to check if they are right. This resoucre was developed by Dr Edward Friedlander of Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences and is amde available under creative commons.
"It is important that the clinical teacher teaches trainees the specific skills sets of the expert general practitioner (e.g. synthesising skills, recognising prototypes, focusing on cues and clues, using community resources and dealing with uncertainty) in order to promote clinical reasoning in the context of general practice or family medicine. Clinical teachers need to understand their own reasoning processes as well as be able to convey that knowledge to their trainees. They also need to understand the developmental stages of clinical reasoning and be able to nurture each trainee's own expertise. Strategies for facilitating effective clinical reasoning in trainees include adequate exposure to patients, offering the trainees opportunity for reflection and feedback, and coaching on the techniques of reasoning in the general practice context."

The educational content is peer reviewed and authors are required to declare competing interests.
a self-training, user-friendly educational software program, available at the Lysosomal Storage Research Group (http://www.lysosomalstorageresearch.ca), was developed using the Adobe Flash multimedia platform. It was designed to function both to provide a realistic, interactive virtual clinic and instantaneous access to supporting literature on Hunter disease.
This site had medical illustrations which you can download and use. The illustrations have been generated by Patrick J Lynch for multimedia teaching projects by the Yale University School of Medicine, Center for Advanced Instructional Media.
WebMic is an Internet interactive virtual microscope that resembles the use of a real microscope. It was developed by Dr Robert Ogilvie of the Medical University of South Carolina, USA.
