An interesting read! Shows how much government dollars go into funding arts or the creative aspects of Australia... But also show what the money can be spent on instead.

It's true though isn't it, we all get to be investors and buyers in a project or company, without potentially being rich at the start.

The american bar association has published an interesting article about how law practitioners can benefit from big data, and also lose credibility from using it. There are various opportunities to help clients but also to hide information they might attain.

This is a forbes magazine article detailing the issues with the music industry of how there are both advantages and disadvantages to using big data. On the one hand it's great for sales and customers, but then it is difficult to take in all the information. Also, streaming music is also a huge issue as you know, I'm sure we have all at one point done it.

This issue was discussed heavily in the week 10 lecture.

This is an interesting piece that explains and brings out theories of how government and health corporations are peeping into medical records to find patterns in drug use, which is the most attractive or effective medicine and how people utilise their health benefits the most.

This is an insightful academic blog by lecturer Louise thornwhaite, on how Facebook is a clear tool for employers in understanding how their employees are as people. Moreover, it often shows the true side of people, not just a made up, virtual life.

An example which I can give to support this essay, is that of the young woman who was discovered at the World Cup this year and was given a modelling contract by Loreal. However after she posted a photo of her hunting animals on Facebook, the contract was immediately terminated. Thus, her career ended before it even began.

The novel 'the media equation' deals with the issue and subject of how technology users in society tend to treat computers, television and new media like they are real people and places. Is it a bad or good thing? It's difficult to say, as we are all users of these mediums, and it becomes difficult to often separate ourselves from it. We become entranced with a tv show, as if we know the characters personally and want them to have a happy ending at the end. Whereas, people on social media often create a 'personality' online, that may or may not be true.

The use of friends or followers develops a group on social media, with one leader- you. It can be weird to think that you are connected to a person online, when you may not even talk to them outside the virtual world. Once again with the use of the term world. It is a universe, where people have the ability to change and create a new image for themselves, as they can be anonymous or someone new.

This essay by Andreas M. Kaplan and Michael Haenlein, demonstrates how social media has effected the business world greatly both successfully and unsuccessfully. The essay details 10 pieces of advice to help companies utilise social media prominently. Moreover, it explains what is considered to be social media, and what is not, with guidelines of how not to ruin your reputation to consumers.

Thanks for sharing this. This is showing the terrifying and escalating number of victims who are being threatened, murdered and separated from their families for no reason AT ALL, no matter what ISIS says to 'justify' their actions.

This is interesting and terrifying in demonstrating how rapidly and unfortunately how successfully ISIS is taking over countries with no justification at all. It's completely barbaric and unnecessary.

This article is informing us that the united nations is FINALLY providing help as well as becoming aware of the raging issues in the Middle East. Though, due to international sanctions, they are still unable to do more than blacklist the country.

Moreover, it shows that the UN is only good for sitting around and voting, instead of taking action.

I feel, that this is definetely interesting, as mobile travel apps and on-the-go information for people who are always moving, is an excellent new form of technology. Life is made easier, less hectic and people are less likely to get lost or taken advantage of. For example, they can look up reviews to a place to see what others have commented about their goods or services.
