www.quizlet.com is a great site for students to review vocabulary. Many sets already exist or you can create your own. Students are able to review by giving themselves quizzes or playing games.

If you use rubrics in your classroom but hate starting from scratch, this is the the place for you! Sign up for free and search by keyword for rubrics in the specific skill or content area you are grading. Then edit and save! You can even put a link to your rubric on the assignment directions, saving paper and trees! This is a link to a rubric I recently created, but you can get to the home page from here.
  •
This looks great - I am always looking for help with rubrics. Check out Kathy Schrok's guide too: http://www.schrockguide.net/assessment-and-rubrics.html
  •
I really like this! I love that you can embed the link to the rubric. This would be very helpful with a WebQuest or Scavenger Hunt lesson. I have used Rubistar before. It is similar, but I think this site offers more options. http://rubistar.4teachers.org/

Express yourself with the ultimate Glog(TM) - graphic blog. Mix Web, Images, Text, Music and Video. Create your Glogster account today and publish in a new way.

This site is so much fun to design for students and even parents. It has awesome color themes and backdrops and offers a really fun way to get across information. It's like a homepage you can create with links to other sites, videos, pictures and more. Our school has a page and the kids really enjoy using it for library resources and etc. I am going to be using this for my class page this fall. I think this site is targeted for fifth grade and up. Younger students may be able to use some of the basic features, but it would require some instruction from the teacher.

I have used Glogster to replace a paper poster in the classroom. The students really enjoyed the chance to have a different presentation of a product.

National Library of Virtual Manipulatives - 2 views

This is a great source that provides the similar manipulatives that we use in math- digi blocks, fraction patterns, base tens blocks. Students can manipulate the resources online. In the homepage, you'll see that the manipulatives are organized by grade level and math topic.

We also use the app Notability in my school. We were able to easily upload our state rubric. The app allows you to highlight it, comment on it, attach websites etc. then send it off to students.

Super Teacher Tools - 2 views

I have used superteachertools.com as a way to create seating charts, random calling of students and create groups. This website is free and easy to use. Teachers just need to input the names of their students in each class before they can use the tools.
  •
This looks great! It will definitely make creating games MUCH easier! Bookmarking to my school laptop right now!!
  •
This DOES look great, thanks for sharing. It is a pity that so much is flash so you can't use it on iPads. Am going to explore this as it looks like it will help and save time.

Using this interactive game, students have to use the right amount of heat/light and water to help their plant grow. This is great to use if you don't have the time to actually plant something in the classroom!
  •
This is neat! I always do a unit on plants during spring. This would be a great tool to use during the unit!

The site is organized by grade level and content, so teachers can easily assign particular games for the students to play. Teachers can set score goals for students to ensure they master a topic.

National Geographic Online - 1 views

This is a great website for science videos, photographs and information for students and teachers to go through to find information. I love many of the videos you can look through to help make a lesson more concrete for students. However the videos are many and great they always start with advertisements which I do not like and think it takes away from the video. However if you look at the Kid version of National Geographic I did find they did not have advertisements before the video begins.
  •
Melanie, I am going to check this site out for videos on butterflies for my project. Thanks!
  •
Love this site!! My dad works for National Geographic, so I get all of the kids magazines that go along with the site. My third grades love it!

Glogster - 0 views

This is an online platform for educators and students with the technology to create GLOGS - online multimedia posters - with text, photos, videos, graphics, sounds, drawings, data attachments and more. This would allow students to display knowledge and skills to create multimedia projects. It allows students to use animations, web cams, audio, attachments and blogs in the creation of their projects. It also has a feature that allows students to share their work with particular individuals or social networks. A subscription to this tool is as cheap as $10 for a whole year. They have other levels for pricing as well.
