Planets For Kids - Solar System Facts and Astronomy - 0 views

  •
Written by a kid, this website provides information about space for elementary age students in kid-friendly language. This site would be useful as one of several sources for elementary research about space. I like the design of the site, the large font size, and that the information is broken into bullets within each topic. I do not like that the site has ads, but there are not as many as on some other "kid" sites.

Julia, This is a great site. It works well with your scavenger hunt and it has a lot of information. Thanks for sharing a site I will use in my own classroom.

This is a great website for students to find videos on many math concepts at the middle and high school levels. The videos give step by step examples to help students through specific problems. It is an easy website for students to search for what they need. I have even recommended this website to some of my parents who tell me that they have trouble helping their children at home because they do not know the material.

I know other teachers who have used these successfully in secondary education. I have personally viewed some videos when I was going for a dual certification in technology, as there were some physics concepts I needed to review. Great recommendation!

Math Is Fun - 0 views

  •
This website gives great definitions about various math topics at the middle and high school level. I am not a big fan of this page because it does not give good examples for students. However, I think it is a good teacher tool for getting the information to the students and gathering activities to do in the classroom. I will be using this in my WebQuest for students to research characteristics of a cube.

States of matter after activities - 0 views

  •
This bookmark is for 3rd graders and up, although I think some of the activities might be a little above grade level. One of the things I had trouble with was a culminating activity for my scavenger hunt. I have found this PDF file that has several of them. I am looking to use the cut and paste activity so the students can have a wrap up activity for the scavenger hunt.

Using this interactive game, students have to use the right amount of heat/light and water to help their plant grow. This is great to use if you don't have the time to actually plant something in the classroom!
  •
This is neat! I always do a unit on plants during spring. This would be a great tool to use during the unit!

Glogster - 0 views

This is an online platform for educators and students with the technology to create GLOGS - online multimedia posters - with text, photos, videos, graphics, sounds, drawings, data attachments and more. This would allow students to display knowledge and skills to create multimedia projects. It allows students to use animations, web cams, audio, attachments and blogs in the creation of their projects. It also has a feature that allows students to share their work with particular individuals or social networks. A subscription to this tool is as cheap as $10 for a whole year. They have other levels for pricing as well.

This site is so much fun to design for students and even parents. It has awesome color themes and backdrops and offers a really fun way to get across information. It's like a homepage you can create with links to other sites, videos, pictures and more. Our school has a page and the kids really enjoy using it for library resources and etc. I am going to be using this for my class page this fall. I think this site is targeted for fifth grade and up. Younger students may be able to use some of the basic features, but it would require some instruction from the teacher.
  •
I have used Glogster to replace a paper poster in the classroom. The students really enjoyed the chance to have a different presentation of a product.
