Le malentendu RDA (employé pour : AACR3 ?) | rda@abes - 0 views

Open and Shut?: The OA Interviews: Jeffrey Beall, University of Colorado Denver - 0 views

"In 2004 the scholarly publisher Elsevier made a written submission to the UK House of Commons Science & Technology Committee. Elsevier asserted that the traditional model used to publish research papers - where readers, and institutions like libraries, pay the costs of producing scholarly journals through subscriptions - "ensures high quality, independent peer review and prevents commercial interests from influencing decisions to publish.""

Skosify - validate, convert and improve SKOS vocabularies - Google Project Hosting - 0 views

  •
"Skosify is a tool that can be used to convert vocabularies expressed as RDFS and OWL into SKOS. It can also be used to improve, enrich and validate existing SKOS vocabularies. See GettingStarted in the wiki for documentation. An online version of the tool is available, which can be used to perform validation and correction. The online version does not yet support all the options available in Skosify. The current version of Skosify, version 1.0, was released on 14 January 2014. See the release announcement and release notes. You can download the file using the Downloads tab. You can also get a copy of the most recent code from the Subversion repository. Use the Issues tab to report problems or request enhancements. Skosify has originally been developed in the FinnONTO projects at the Semantic Computing Research Group (SeCo) at Aalto University and University of Helsinki, Finland. The code is open source and available under a permissive MIT-style license. Current development is ongoing at the National Library of Finland. For publications and contact information, see the home page of Skosify at the SeCo website."

This Is Your Thesis; This Is Your Thesis On CD-R | AVPreserve - 0 views

"I was recently contacted by one of my alma maters about my masters thesis. The school required deposit (in duplicate) with the Library as part of the application for graduation, but luckily by this time they were accepting (perhaps enforcing - who wants to manage all those bound theses?) submission of an electronic copy on CD-R. This was the second time in 10 years that someone had written to me about my thesis. Pretty awesome for a Humanities masters thesis, so I was starting to feel awfully big-headed."

The wondrous world of the UW Digital Collections | OUPblog - 0 views

"A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of attending a presentation on archiving commemorative African fabrics, through the course of which I learned about the University of Wisconsin's Digital Collections Center. As a historian-in-training and digital archive enthusiast, I became immediately intrigued by all the resources and projects described by Melissa McLimans, a digital librarian who works with the Center and helped digitally archive the fabric. After the talk, I decided to reach out to Melissa via e-mail to learn more about the UW Digital Collections Center. I also spoke with the Center's resident audio expert, Steven Dast. I do work for the Oral History Review, after all."
