Welcome The Royal Photographic Society was founded in 1853 'to promote the Art and Science of Photography', a mission it continues to this day in the United Kingdom and through its considerable overseas membership. Membership is open to everyone interested in photography: be they amateur or professional, artist or scientist, young or old. As well as becoming a member of The Society itself, many members also Join one or more of the specialist Groups which concentrate more closely upon their chosen interests within the medium.

PSA is a worldwide interactive organization for anyone interested in photography, be they casual, serious amateurs or professional photographers. Individual, Camera Club, Chapter and Council members are offered a wide variety of activities: a monthly magazine, photo and digital competitions, study groups via mail and the internet, how-to programs, an annual conference and a raft of other activities and services. The Photographic Society of America was founded in 1934 to "Promote the Arts and Sciences of Photography and to further public education therein". Photographer and MacArthur fellow Susan Meiselas is best known for her work covering political upheavals in Central America in the 1970s and 80s. The International Center of Photography (ICP) is hosting the first U.S. overview of her work, "Susan Meiselas: In History." It's on display through January 4, 2009.

This website presents academic research articles on the early history of photography published by R. D. Wood between 1970 and 1997. Three pages of unpublished correspondence on the subject are also provided, and, as time goes on, articles that have never reached printed publication will be added.
