Donna, How would I go about embedding some of these trailers on the Library Page? Or is that possible?

Every year schools around the world spend thousands of dollars on textbooks that are often outdated by the end of their first year in the classroom. Ebooks, many of them free, can represent huge savings for schools over purchasing textbooks. Here are seven places that you can find free ebooks.

Most trailers were created by teachers, students or librarians, but a few of the trailers were created by publishers, or authors.  The most important thing to note is that all of them are here for you to use, so feel free! 

Here are six visual dictionaries and thesauri that can help your students better understand the meanings of words

Narrowing them down to just 30 titles wasn't an easy task, but we believe the following books stand out for their remarkable writing, indelible characters, and arresting artwork.

Teachers are busy, so I get right to the point. Monday through Friday I post a new picture book on this blog with a 1 or 2 line plot summary (no spoilers!), a short quote from the text (in italics), and a writing activity for one of the six traits.

The list of 73 titles, drawn from 127 official nominations, is presented annually at the ALA Midwinter Meeting. The books, recommended for those ages 12-18, meet the criteria of both good quality literature and appealing reading for teens.

ROVER (Recommended Online Video Education Resources) is the video streaming site for Saskatchewan teachers and students in the PreK-12 education system. It is managed and maintained by the Saskatchewan Ministry of Education.

Are some of your students finished with the Twilight series and suffering from withdrawal?  Try some of these great supernatural reads with a romantic twist.

We have the City of Gold series in our library but sent on the Tithe series to Jen at NBCHS. I read both of those series and felt the second one was better at a high school. Has anyone seen the graphic novel based on Twilight?

I embeded this video on the library pages at both schools and have recieved a variety of good comments.

I've talked to some elementary librarians who are a reluctant to order many graphic novels because they're afraid there aren't any good ones for our younger students. Another issue is whether or not graphic novels are important or useful for our students' literacy development. I'm going to tackle both of these issues here.

We recently purchased a graphic novel series called BabyMouse. We can't keep it on the shelf. Boys and girls in grade 2 read it as well as girls in grade 5. They haven't been read by anyone else because the students just rotate them through their class. All the art is done in pink white and black. I think its a good example of a graphic novel good for younger students.

How can a teacher best approach the teaching of a novel? I sent an e-mail with this link to the English teachers in our school, along with a link to the book trailers. Sheila did a really successful trailer project for MacBeth last year.

Would she and the students be willing to share some of the trailers? Are they on YouTube? It would be nice to have good examples to show people.
