The Unquiet Library Celebrated the National Day of Writing and Teen Read Week with our first ever virtual author visit via Skype!  Our special guest was the amazing Sara Zarr, National Book Award finalist and author of Story of a Girl, Sweethearts, and her latest book, Once Was Lost.

this is a list of authors who offer free 20-minute Q and A sessions with classes and book clubs that have finished reading one of their books.

OK - this is just the coolest site - a collection of essays by authors about how they came up with their big ideas... mostly science and sicence fiction - no wonder as the blog author is a Creative Consultant on Stargate Universe.

Alexie won the $15,000 award for War Dances, a collection of short stories about ordinary people on the brink of change, interspersed with poems. From the story of a famous author whose father is dying a "natural Indian death" from alcohol and diabetes, to the tale of a young boy writing for his local newspaper's obituaries pages, judge Al Young - California's poet laureate - called it a "rollicking, bittersweet gem of a book".

Most trailers were created by teachers, students or librarians, but a few of the trailers were created by publishers, or authors.  The most important thing to note is that all of them are here for you to use, so feel free!

This is a really good site that I found while reading "When Kids Can't read" by Kylene Beers. It has good author biographies as well as books for teens, obviously. Click on the 'links' tab and there are some other really neat things. the address is really authors4teens.com, the books4teens goes to a different page. Sorry.
