Evaluating training: some alternatives to the Kirkpatrick method

What new things could we discover if social network analysis took time and space into account, in addition to the raw connections between people?

Kynetx, Inc. is a privately-held Platform as a Service (PaaS) company based in Lehi, Utah. It provides a development platform for context automation that is the first of its kind. The platform uses Kynetx Network Services to supply tools to developers to create context-aware applications that can run on a multitude of devices, including browsers, mobile phones, and desktops.

Have been listening to a Dave Snowden podcast of a "101 organic KM course". Amongst many familiar themes is the mention of the pitfalls of too much transparency hurting innovation.

Kynetx offers the premier platform for building a new breed of Apps that are context-aware, cross-platform, and act as event listeners in the cloud. Capable of interfacing with users on any URL or web-enabled device, Kynetx Apps give developers a way to "Program the Internet" and solve problems in uniquely interconnected ways.

I think there is a potential to inject a feedback mechanism in this course, and any MOOC for that matter, with regard to the helpfulness of reading material in the Syllabus.  I think that would especially suit the Learning & Knowledge Analytics course.

With so many websites to join, users must decide where to invest significant time in adding their same connections over and over. For developers, this means it is difficult to build successful web applications that hinge upon a critical mass of users for content and interaction. With the Social Graph API, developers can now utilize public connections their users have already created in other web services. It makes information about public connections between people easily available and useful.

NodeXL is a template for Excel 2007 and 2010 that lets you enter a network edge list, click a button, and see the network graph, all in the Excel window. You can easily customize the graph's appearance; zoom, scale and pan the graph; dynamically filter vertices and edges; alter the graph's layout; find clusters of related vertices; and calculate a set of graph metrics. Networks can be imported from and exported to a variety of data formats, and built-in connections for getting networks from Twitter, Flickr, YouTube, and your local email are provided.
