"Inquiry-based teaching is a pedagogical approach that invites students to explore academic content by posing, investigating, and answering questions. This approach puts students' questions at the center of the curriculum, and places just as much value on the component skills of research as it does on knowledge and understanding of content. "

iTunes - Podcasts - Brains On! Science podcast for kids by American Public Media - 0 views

Brains On! is a podcast featuring inquiry-based science explorations. Each episode poses an authentic question and an entertaining examination of the answer. Sometimes that means talking to a nutritionist or a reptile expert. Other times that means putting on a play about sound waves or singing songs about sleep. It's a science lesson for your ears!

Animal Inquiry Through Paws, Claws, Hands, and Feet | Big Universe Learning - Blog - 1 views

Paws, Claws, Hands, and Feet by Kimberly Hutmacher is a rhythmic rhyming book about animals and how they use their appendages. A book like this is especially helpful for exposing children to a variety of verbs that they may not ordinarily use. When asked to describe what feet can do, many of my lower elementary students would say: walk, run, stand, hop, or jump. After reading this book, they discover that feet can also: cling, leap, dash, roam, etc.

The goal of SciGirls is to encourage girls to find a passion of science, technology, engineering and math - or STEM. Each 30-minute episode highlights scientific and engineering processes following a different set of middle school girls who design their own inquiry-based investigations with the help of scientist mentors. The mentors offer the students a glimpse of exciting STEM career possibilities. SciGirls educational materials provide gender-equitable teaching strategies and hands-on inquiries based on the concepts modeled in SciGirls' videos.
