Everything Teachers Need to Know about Google Spreadsheets ~ Educational Technology and... - 1 views

Google is on everything so it is important to know how to use the tools you use elsewhere. For example, it is needful to know how to use google spreadsheets on a tablet just as you might know and use it elsewhere. I am not saying this well, but tablet use and desktop use are sometimes quite different. I know, I know--why? Well, it is like this grasshopper. The tech gnomes in a push for job security want to make sure they have fresh horizons that require their help...OK that's not the real reason. The real reason is that tablets in the once upon a time were not as powerful as desktops so you needed a different kind of operating system. That means different kinds of software to match the hardware and the operating system. But here's the twist: as tablet hardware becomes more sophisticated their operating systems become likewise more sophisticated. In fact, Microsoft is betting the farm on their new operating system, Windows 8, even though it is clearly a knock off of their mobile operating system (OS). In the next few years all desktop OS's will converge with their mobile counterparts. In fact it is already happening. The upshot of this is that in the relatively near future we will all be back to one OS per company, but for now you gotta know both.
