Weblist is a new way to gather and organize content on the web. Create your list of URLs centered on a specific theme and we will combine it to one easy to navigate URL. This is for everyone who has a blog or wants to have one… in other words, this is for most of the literate universe. I'm guessing that you blog because you want to share things with the world or you want to, at least, participate in the conversation with others who have common interests. So, if you're serious about keeping your blog going, you'll want to have readers. But, sadly, as business blogging pro Joel Spolsky points out in this excellent article from INC Magazine, most of us simply don't "get it" when it comes to blogging.

"Learning new vocabulary can be quite daunting for most students. We just have to look at the literacy rates to see how much children struggle with vocabulary. Rote learning of vocabulary does not really work. Experience has taught me students remember what they use and explore. Students need to have fun, engage with the material, and explore how their new knowledge works. Vocabulary lists are boring, but word clouds can be quite engaging. Therefore, I am sharing my favorite ways to help your students begin to explore new vocabulary through various word cloud tools, tips, and resources."

One of the great things about Twitter is the wealth of useful links that get shared between users. My conservative estimate is that 25% of the resources that I've bookmarked over the last few years have come from Twitter users. The one thing that I wish Twitter had was an option for bookmarking those links without having to open them outside of Twitter. Packrati.us was built to do just that, bookmark links without leaving Twitter. To get started using Packrati.us authorize the service to access your Twitter account and your Delicious account. Once you've authorized Packrati.us it bookmarks in Delicious all of the links you Tweet or reTweet. If you're a frequent user of services like Four Square or Gowalla you can tell Packrati.us to ignore links from those sources. Packrati.us also allows you to specify hashtags to ignore or to add to your links.

To piggy back onto my last post about Alan November's call to make students contributors to their own learning, I wanted to share the "Skype Jobs" of my students. There is a sense of excitement in the room, when our students get ready to conduct a Skype call. I almost want to compare it to a "traditional" vision of a newsroom before a deadline. Everyone is buzzing, running here, running there to get ready for their job assignment. Don't ask why, but I have the memory of a scene in the "Watergate"movie with Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman in my mind

If you learned it you should have got an A on it (Scholar Ladies video and Beyoncé remix) Singing and dancing students, teachers and administrators in the YouTube video, "Scholar Ladies (Get An A On It)" share a positive message about high expectations for school learning and good grades.

Oftentimes, teachers want to offer a fun assignment to students that they will be excited to participate in. With Blabberize, students can upload photos of any person, place or thing. Then, you can trace the mouth of the photo and record a voice for the photo to speak through. There are an endless amount of possibilities that students can do with this fun tool. Sharing information about authors, subjects and books are great ways to use this tool. You can even save the projects and embed it in class websites or blogs.

Peter Lourie is a present day explorer/archeologist who has his own website talking about his adventures. He also has a teachers page where he shares many of his lessons as well as experiences visiting and talking with students. This would be an excellent resource for elementary teachers to look at for a while. The man has been TONS of places that we all study in Elementary and Middle School.
