"In the face of the "new normal" of decreased budgets and increased expectations,
many administrators are turning to technology to enhance teaching and learning while mitigating the consequences of consecutive years of budget cuts. Mobile learning, in particular, has attracted a great deal of attention for its potential to engage students by leveraging the technology environment they have grown accustomed to in their non-school lives; its potential to scale personalized learning and reduce the digital divide; its potential to extend learning beyond the four walls of the classroom and the limited hours of the school day; and its potential to enable new pedagogies based on the affordances of these devices that students already carry at their fingertips.Still, the field of mobile learning is still emerging and there are many questions to be addressed when contemplating a mobile learning implementation.
How do we create a program with a sustainable impact on teaching and learning, rather than a superficial adoption of the currently "hot" technology?
What are the steps involved in implementing a mobile learning program?
How do we optimize the investment of our technology dollars?
How do we choose devices, networks, and software for our implementation?
What are the security considerations in implementing a mobile learning program?
What are the policy considerations for a mobile learning program?
What are the professional development considerations?
What are the teaching models associated with mobile learning?
What are the options for funding a mobile learning program?"
Let's be honest, we don't like to read big pieces of text. Text-heavy graphs are rather difficult for understanding, especially when we deal with numbers and statistics. That is why we use illustrations and flowcharts for such kind of information.
It's no wonder that today we know a method to make our life easier. It called an infographic - a visual representation of study or data. But like anything else, it can be done right or wrong ( I'm sure you saw poorly ones). How to create a cool infographic? The secret is in a long time brainstorming. You need a really cool idea and good design.
"PROFESSOR AT K-STATE DEVELOPS TEXTBOOK FLEXIBILITY" But perhaps the best part is that Lindshield's book is free to students - a sweet deal for anyone who has ever shelled out $500 or far, far more per semester for textbooks
Lindshield's textbook replacement, titled "Kansas State University Human Nutrition Flexbook,"
Seinfeld ran for nine seasons on NBC and became famous as a "show about nothing." Basically, the show allows viewers to follow the antics of Jerry, George, Elaine, and Kramer as they move through their daily lives, often encountering interesting people or dealing with special circumstances. It is the simplicity of Seinfeld that makes it so appropriate for use in economics courses. Using these clips (as well as clips from other television shows or movies) makes economic concepts come alive, making them more real for students. Ultimately, students will start seeing economics everywhere - in other TV shows, in popular music, and most importantly, in their own lives.
"Cheating, and specifically the time-honored act of plagiarism, has been receiving a good deal of attention in education circles of late. The rise of the Internet as a virtual paper mill has tuned educators in to the fact that students, when given the chance, will often resort to dishonest measures in order to get high marks in a course. Many of my colleagues have reacted very strongly to the rise of Internet cheating. Some have strengthened their policies on the matter, others have added new paragraphs to their syllabi addressing the issue directly, and still others have been spending hours online trying to find any paper they believe to be pilfered from a source other than the student's brain."
"Welcome to the iPod Touch Classroom Wiki!
This wiki has been created as a collaborative space for educators using the iPod Touch in the classroom. There has been a great deal of demand for a space such as this so that schools and teachers who are using the iPod Touch to share what they're doing. This wiki is (and should be) a work in progress as we explore best practices and ideas for implementation of the iPod Touch in the classroom.
If you are using the iPod Touch in your classroom, school, or district, please consider joining this wiki and share what you're learning!"
a story about her polka dotted world one day when I was walking my pug, Petula Peabody. As Petula chased a spotted red ladybug, I realized it would be loads of fun for children and their parents to have a peek into a wonderfully whimsical polka dot world. Kids and adults alike LOVE polka dots! As I continued to develop the story, I also realized that perhaps Lilly could help kids deal better with their scary visits to the doctor. And so, as you see in the book, when Little Lilly Polka Dot gets polka dots on her tongue, a very kind doctor removes them in a very cool way!
In Conquering the Paperwork Mountain, two schools show how they have implemented new strategies in dealing with overwhelming admin, and demonstrate how schools can take the load off their staff, allowing them to get on with what they do best - teaching!
