This video is an allegory that compares a community with social media. It's not so much the topic as the presentation - instead of giving us a dry and boring synopsis of what social means and can achieve, it found an analogy and uses simple animation and enthusiastic narration to get its point across.

"A few weeks ago I was over at my Aunt and Uncle's place helping them re-jailbreak a first generation iphone I had bought for them in Augusta last spring. Our conversation drifted into why they both haven't signed up on faceboook yet. The short answer was - they are already connected to their friends."

This describes that students use what they learn from popular media to help build their online identity.

I did a Tumblr post around this video a few weeks ago, and I found it very thought provoking. This video could easily be related to Michael Welsh's video about technology in schools.

As much as anyone wants to ignore social media, theres always a way where you can bump into it without even knowing . .
