I find this article newsworthy because so many people use Facebook to communicate, and updates and improvements to the site make this possible. The newsworthy qualities that this story contains are proximity, timeliness, and importance/impact. Proximity is because Facebook is an international institution that is available to all, therefore the story takes place just within people's computer screens. The story is timely because the news was received from Facebook officials just yesterday, and published today, and the story has great impact because of the incredible numbers of Facebook users.

This story is interesting to me because it is about science and our space program which interests me.  The story is also important because it is dealing with the large impact of unveiling an entirely new rocket design, and not just a new rocket.

I found this interesting because I'm interested in fashion, and outdoor markets. I found this article interesting because I believe in equality, and hope that the vote proves successful. The three qualities of newsworthiness that this article contains are importance/impact, timeliness, and conflict. The story is of importance, and has the potential to greatly impact many people, because the vote it's discussing may result in the allowance of same-sex couples to marry, and the extension of health and social benefits to these pairs. Should the vote be successful, hundreds of couples will be allotted rights equal to those of heterosexual couples. The article is timely, because the Senate decided just yesterday that this vote would be included in the May primaries. Finally, the article involves conflict between conservatives who are against the vote as a whole, and fear for its outcome, and supporters of gay rights, who are hoping for a positive outcome, and continuously battling for equality.

Why I found it newsworthy: This story is about how kids learn to be successful. As an educator this is something I care about a great deal. Qualities of News: Important/Impact - Many people have kids in school, so this would Impact a great deal of readers. Meaning - This tries to explain what is truly effective in schools. This is a complicated topic that is frequently debated. Conflict - there is some conflict between what parents at this school think and what Randolph is doing. Proximity - this is a school in Manhattan that would be close to most readers of the NY Times.

I found this article interesting because I vacation every year at the Jersey Shore. I find this article newsworthy because it applies to me, and I feel and think many of the things that the article describes as a student. The article contains importance/impact, timeliness, and proximity. The article is important because it applies to the majority of high school students, which is a large chunk of our population. The topic it explains, excessive stress due to large loads of schoolwork, is something experienced by all of our as adolescents, and which can greatly impact our futures. The story is timely because for students, summer has just ended and given way to a new school year. While the school discussed is in the Fayette County School system, it applies to all high schools, across the nation, including my own.

I chose this article because I am also a cheerleader and it gives a positive take on the sport of cheerleading. Importance/Impact: It tells how even though you may only see cheerleaders at the games, you don't realize how hard they work behind the scenes, practicing every day for many hours. Special Interest: This stories main topic is very interesting to me seeing as I am a cheerleader and I can relate very well to what this article has to say about cheerleading.
