Kardashian Divorce May Finally Remove Kardashian Wedding From Airwaves -- Vulture - 0 views

  •
Kardashian Divorce May Finally Remove Kardashian Wedding From Airwaves It was supposed to be a storybook wedding between a famous butt and a man she has never been able to climb to the top of, and now it has ended in heartbreak: Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries are divorcing. This presents a problem for E!, reports the New York Times, since the channel has aired its megabudgeted Kim's Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event almost every single day since it premiered a few weeks ago; the article claims that executives have been huddled in meetings all day, weighing whether to pull the special from the air. (Their union died so that we may live!) Meanwhile, though Kardashian has claimed in a statement that the divorce was arrived at "after careful consideration," TMZ reports that poor Humphries was blindsided, screaming "NOOO" and "Caesar is ALREADY home," before freeing some other basketball players to chase after her. Bodies hanging from bridge in Mexico are warning to social media users - CNN.com - 0 views

  • The gruesome scene sent a chilling message at a time when online posts have become some of the loudest voices reporting violence in Mexico. In some parts of the country, threats from cartels have silenced traditional media. Sometimes even local authorities fear speaking out.
  • It will be nearly impossible to determine if the two victims actually posted anything about cartels on the Internet, as people don't usually use their real names online, he said
  • A woman was hogtied and disemboweled, her intestines protruding from three deep cuts on her abdomen. Attackers left her topless, dangling by her feet and hands from a bridge in the border city of Nuevo Laredo. A bloodied man next to her was hanging by his hands, his right shoulder severed so deeply the bone was visible. Signs left near the bodies declared the pair, both apparently in their early 20s, were killed for posting denouncements of drug cartel activities on a social network.

Bronx DA's office declines to prosecute alarming number of cases, probe finds | The New York City Local - Yahoo! News - 0 views

  • The best place to get arrested in the city is the Bronx. Hands down. That's because the Bronx district attorney's office declines to prosecute an alarming number of cases, a Daily News probe found. Prosecutors toss cases at twice the rate of the citywide average - and more than three times the rate of their counterparts in Manhattan and Brooklyn, stats show.
  • The office refused to press charges for 1,195 felony arrests, or about 10% of 11,938 total felony cases. They also rejected 6,315 misdemeanors, or roughly 20% of the 31,582 total. The overall 17.3% rejection rate is more than twice the citywide average of 8.4%.
  • In the past month, the Bronx district attorney's office declined to prosecute a number of disturbing crimes. Among them: - A crazed woman slashed a man in his stomach, but dodged attempted murder charges because of an uncooperative victim. A cop source said prosecutors did "less than nothing" to gain his trust. - Officers found two men sitting on a park bench reeking of pot with a large bag of crack cocaine at their feet. Prosecutors deemed there was not enough evidence to prove the drugs belonged to them, records show. Steven Reed, a spokesman for Johnson, attributed the office's high case rejection rate to "rigorous screening." "Charging decisions are based on the facts of the case and the law," he said. "The deprivation of an individual's liberty is something that we take very seriously."

ESPN analyst curses on 'Monday Night Football,' apologizes - Shutdown Corner - NFL Blog - Yahoo! Sports - 3 views

  • ESPN analyst Ron Jaworski momentarily forgot he was calling a football game to millions of viewers when he threw in a casual curse word during a breakdown of a replay on "Monday Night Football."
  • As you can see from the clip, he apologized a few minutes later.
  • "That's one Chad [Henne] would love to have back," Jaworski said. "He knew he had the one-on-one matchup going down the right sideline. "S---, you have to get rid of this ball just a split-second quicker."
  • ...5 more annotations...
  • We accept your apology, Jaws. You're forgiven, especially because sitting in a booth with Jon Gruden all night could make even the most straitlaced man drop a few curse words.
  • The verbal goof came late in the game after Miami Dolphins quarterback Chad Henne(notes) overthrew Brandon Marshall(notes) in the end zone.
  • What I love about this is that there was no stumbling, no backtracking in the dropping of the s-word; Jaws just said it casually, like it wasn't a big deal. He was probably imagining he was breaking down film in a hotel room, talking to whoever else was with him.

I found it interesting because I watched the entire game and didn't even notice. Its apparent because it just happened the other night.

Importance-It's important because it violates the rules of what you can or cannot say over the air. Human Interest-Most people would find it interesting because they probably didn't notice either until he apologized for it. Unusual Nature/Conflict-Some people might get offended by it though, you can never tell what people are gonna find insulting. Special Interest- This doesn't happen very often so I'm sure people will find this amusing.

this story is news worth because it is very unusual.. you never hear about a hot headed body builder throwing a dog out the window while dancing to rave music. The funniest part about it is that the man acted like he was asleep the whole time when the police came.
  •
A hotheaded Queens bodybuilder killed his dog by tossing it out of a third-floor window - then played dumb, telling cops he was asleep the whole time. Milan Rysa, 30, hurled Brooklyn, a Chinese Shar-Pei weighing about 50 pounds, out of his apartment on Steinway St. in Astoria as he played thumping dance music about 8:30 p.m Monday, police and witnesses said. "I saw it coming out the window," a shocked witness said, declining to give his name. "I heard the yelp when it hit the ground. I heard the thud. It just missed a woman." Witnesses said Rysa looked out the window, saw a crowd gathering near Brooklyn's broken body, then shut off the music and the apartment's lights.

This is newsworthy because it contains proximity (the town football team) and Special interest (sports fans). I think this news is important because their are a lot of sports fan out there and interested to know how the high school football team is doing.
  • Searfoss drilled a punt from his own 46 with just under six minutes left that positioned Linden on its own 8-yard line and the Hunterdon Central defense held it down the rest of the way to nail down a 27-14 victory yesterday in Linden.
  • ...2 more annotations...
  • Linden had scored on its previous two possessions to make it a one-possession game, but Searfoss nailed a punt over return man Ruhann Peele that was picked up inside the 10. Peele was able to return it, but a penalty negated the run.
  • Linden trailed, 20-0, and struggled in the first half, but the offense was able to open things up in the second half
