Tyler Knowles August 31, 2010 Review of World Facts and Figures Overview The purpose of this site is to inform the user of fun facts about different countries around the world such as population of a country or city, maps and country flags. It is very easy to navigate and very interesting. This website would target students, or anyone for that matter, looking to find out interesting facts about a certain part of the world. It also has links to current news going on around the world which stand out drawing the attention of the viewer. Content It is easy to determine the content of the site, however there is no information about the creators of this site. The content is to inform people of different statistics as well as interesting facts around the world which is kept up to date. The site offers links to such as measurement and currency converters which would be handy to any traveler, but is aimed for those seeking general knowledge of other countries. Design The design of this site is very user friendly, again appealing to students. The layout is easy to navigate and has many graphics to help you find out maps as well as flags for countries. By giving top ten country and city population ranks it enables the user to want to inquire more about population rankings and by simply clicking a link this is possible. The date of last revision is not exactly shown however links to current news events from around the world show that this site is updated frequently.

Content Summary: This is a you tube video of drawing one point perspective. The viewers of this video will be introduced to perspective in this video. The video explains horizontals, depth, draft lines, and vanishing point. Overview: The video clearly states its purpose to explain one point perspective. This video is geared toward upper level students, but not age specific. Design Summary: The video was quick to load and the website is working properly. The author of the video is not given though there is a you tube id associated with it. The date of editing is given as well. Overview: The video was clear and concise and fullfilled it's purpose. The viewer will take away information about perspective and be able to recreate one point perspective from the video.

Overview: The audience this video is geared toward is upper class high school, though not specific. The video is working properly and loads well. Design Summary: The name of the author is not given, though a log in name is shown. The video covers a difficult concept of drawing landscape perspective. The date of updating is given. Overview: This video fulfilled its purpose and was useful in explaining 2 point perspective. The information was effective and people who view the video all the way through will learn about two point perspective and its applications.

Content overview: Video tutorial of 3 point perspective from you tube. This video explains vanishing points and ideas used with 3 point perspective. Overview: The site is working properly and the video loads quickly. The purpose is clear for the video and website link. Design overview: The name of the author is given as well as the date of editing. The site is simple and points toward the purpose. Overview: This site fulfills its purpose to explain 3 point perspective in an easy and well explained way. This video was very thorough and the viewer will be able to attempt recreation of 3 point perspective.

It provides coloring pages, games, printable goodies, and craft ideas. The website is very good in both content and design. It has a theme that fits for its intended audience with bright colors and pictures. Everything within the site works very well and has a purpose. This site is worth bookmarking for anyone teaching preschool to first grade. Content Everything about this site is well done. It posts all of its legal information and contacts as links at the bottom of the page. Things that are to be given credit from another site are done so clearly. The purpose of the site is clear, to provide entertainment to teachers to use in their classroom. The content is bias free or hard to detect. All information appears to be accurate and up to date and is supplied when necessary. Overall the content is complete and cleanly done in a way that does not take away from the visual aspects of the site. Design The design of this site is extremely well done as well. The main navigation bar at the top is easy to use and clearly states each category that the site offers and makes using the site very easy. The graphics are perfect for the intended audience as elementary teachers with pictures like school buses and flowers and are not overdone. The site has sufficient information and organizes it well into categories that can be easily browsed. Links are not broken and lead to sites that are relevant and helpful as well. The site is also fantastic in keeping up to date even changing content to go with the seasons so that there are activities for every major part of the school year.

Overview: Academic skill builders is an educational gaming site. it allows children to improve their skills in math, language arts, and geography while holding on to their attention through car races and meteor destruction. Content: the site is quite obviously designed to help educate and entertain children in elementary school. Links at the top of the web page take you to other pages including information on the site's creators, and research on how video games could improve a child's education. Each game fits completely into the parameters of "educational gaming" as they all included different ways of helping kids hone their academic skills. I did not discover how often the site is updated or revised, however, and think that frequent updates to a game site are important so the content will not lose excitement. Design: This web site was well designed. It was easily navigated, and the games and links loaded properly. the homepage is attractive, and you are easily able to find links to all of the content on the site. Reviewed by Kelsey Bancroft 8/31/10 Overview This website targets educators. It is filled with lesson plans, technology integration, activity ideas, etc. for the classroom. Many teachers would benefit from this site, but especially teachers who are just starting out. There are many different links on this site to navigate to, but there are almost too many links. There is so much on this website, it's a little bit hectic for a person to find what they are looking for. The site is nice because of all the amounts of information that can be found, but it is a little busy. Content The content on this site for the most part is all very good. There is a lot of everything on this site to be found. The only downfall is the process of finding it. If a teacher or anyone has time to sit down and look for what they want, then it's a great site, but if they are crunched for time it may not be the right site for them. There is all sorts of lesson plans, technology integration, proffessional development, and so forth. There is a lot of information here on this site that is worth looking through and bookmarking. Design The design of this site is a little crazy. It is well organized by all the different categories being grouped together, but there is so much on the page that it may be hard to find exactly what one is looking for. The look of the page may turn someone away simply because of how much is going on, but if someone sat and looked through the information it gives, they might find it useful. The design could lose a little cluster.

Overview This site is for children to learn. It is for a younger age probably around the 3rd or 4th grade level. All the links work, but some of the videos and games take a while to upload. They could be uploading slow because of my internet access, however. It is a very fun and energetic site for kids to look through and learn and play games all at the same time. I think kids would really enjoy exploring and learning through internet, therefore this site would be a good one for them. Teachers could use this form of technology to teach. Content There is a lot of different types of content on this site. There is everything from biology to history to spelling. With so much different information and topics kids could take a lot from this website. It is a multipurpose website that is fun for the student, but also a learning purpose as well. The links all work and go to the correct page. My favorite part of this website is all the different games to be played in the different subjects. Kids can have fun while learning because of the great areas of information and learning there is to be done on this site. Design The design of this site is okay. It is pretty well organized which is helpful for children, although these days kids know more about technology than their elders. I believe students could navigate through the site pretty easily and would love to explore the various activities and pages. Having the pictures is very good for students as well because of how much visuals have become a part of learning in society. The design is not the best but it is eye catching and pretty well organized, and works.

Overview: Kid's Know It is a site with educational games. It does not seems like it would ve appealing to kids. The site seems to be intended for younger kids, but it is unclear. I think teachers would be more appreciative to the site than the actual students. Content: There seems to be a lot of different subject areas as well as games. The site however, does not specify what grade levels it is intended for. On the plus side, there is an 'About Us' section, information about the copyright, as well as a way to contact the operators of the site. It seems to be done in a professional manner. Design: The site is colorful and catches the eye. There are lots of games and many different categories. Each subject has a picture and a description of what the link contains. The initional picture you see when you first come to the site could be more appealing. The design overall is pretty good.
