Billie Slyman, 9/11/11 Purpose The purpose of this site is to give students a resource to learn about weather and how it affects people. There is enough information to be useful, but it's not overwhelming. There aren't any links to outside sites, which is a drawback. However, I still think this is a valuable site because it has good information, interactive content, and is well designed for students to navigate. Content This site does a good job of achieving its purpose of providing information for students. While there is a good amount of information, it is put in simple language and organized in a way to make it easy for students to understand. Many of the sections have interactive multiple choice questions, where students can click on a button and a text box will pop up and tell them if they are correct. The content seems accurate to me, and the developers (the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research, for example) seem qualified to present this information. Design This website has a very nice design. Everything looks interesting for students but is still well organized and not cluttered. It is easy to find the information you want and navigate around the site. Also, the information on each page is split up into sections and has lots of pictures interspersed, so it isn't a huge block of text that could be intimidating to students. The pictures and charts are all relevant and aid in understanding the information given.

Michael Gonzales September 14, 2011 Overview: This website is a great start to help educate children about the Spanish language. It is filled with links to games, worksheets, and even flashcards. This website offers the basics and helps form the foundation to teaching and understanding the Spanish language. The site is professional and is well organized. Content: I believe that learning any language is important to the well being of any individual. It allows you to open your mind and expand your world to what is out there. This website is a great way to start off your journey to understanding Spanish. It offers you the basic levels and lessons that will allow you to become fully immersed in the information. It is interactive, allowing you to play matching games and also provides educational videos. It also provides the user to explore countries and learn information that is relevant to the language. I can for sure use this in my classroom becomes it covers all corners of the basics and allows you to reach further and test your boundaries. Design: The design of the website is very professional and is very well laid out. The information is accessible and straight forward and is easy to navigate within. The animated images are enriching and capture the audience's attention. Each section is organized into its own category and offers a wide range of information and media. I believe that this site is easy accessible by any student as well adults who want to learn some information about Spanish and other countries.

Whitney Lindt Purpose: The purpose of this website is to make it easy for teachers to find fun activities for their students to do but also make it easy to use in the school setting because it is enforcing what the teachers are teaching. Overview: I think that this site would be great for teachers to use in their classrooms for several reasons. One of them being that if they give the proper direction to their students they would actually be able to have the students use it in the classroom, this is important because they need to become computer savvy as they continue on in school. The other reason that this website is a good one to use would be because it covers more than one subject so teachers could use it for several of the subjects they are teaching instead of trying to find a new subject with each subject they teach. Content: The content of this site is really well organized and it is easy to look through and find what one is looking for. The nice thing about this site is that even though it is all learning material it is presented in games which is really nice especially for younger students. It has learning material on math, English, animals, printing, and typing. These are all essential as one moves up in school. One thing a really like about this website is that is has a how to print area and a typing area which most of the other websites don't seem to have and with the technological world that we live in today the younger the children start these activities the better. All of the links on this website work really well and open quickly which is also good to keep the children's attention. Design: I do not think that this website is appealing enough to the eye especially for young grade school students. Like there are some playful things in the background but I just don't think that there are enough colors to get the attention that the site is looking for. Whitney Lindt Purpose: I think that the purpose of this website is to make a website available that teachers could send their younger students to. This website makes it a fun way for students to learn and it also gives them time on the computer which they need to move up in school. Overview: This site has great links that teachers can use in their classroom and with some direction could actually send their students to and students could probably easily navigate this sight. There are many activities for the children that would make learning fun and keep the younger students' interest while the teacher is teaching them how to navigate a computer or just about any subject because this website goes over almost every subject in some way. Content: The content of this site is very useful especially with the younger students in grade school because it is easy to navigate through and teachers would be able to tell their students where to go and the students would be able to do it themselves. The other thing that I really like about this website is it has links to sites that could help students learn and then it has sites that students could just go for fun such as coloring pages. All of the links off of the homepage of the website would serve great use in the classroom and just for parents to send their kids to without having to worry about the safety of the internet. Design: This site is easy to navigate because the table of contents is in alphabetical order. All of the links from the home page work extremely well and one can navigate through this site quickly.

Michelle Jacobsen 9/16/11 Overview: This website really isn't the best for students to use I would say. Some of the games are free but most you have to pay for. For teachers, it is a little more helpful for helping first time teachers teach different parts of math, like the times tables for example. Content: The content of this website is more directed towards helpful tips for teachers in teaching elementary math classes. They give teaching tips and guides as well as strategies to use to help get the point across to kids. Design: This isn't the easiest website to navigate though that I have come across. It's really a boring design and has everything cluttered into the home page. There are also quite a few ads that will also show up on the side of the page. Overall I'm not a huge fan of this site and wouldn't really recommend it.

Michelle Jacobsen 9/16/11 Overview: This website is useful to both teachers and students. It focuses on grade levels K-6 and helps improve students reading skills. Teachers can get onto this site and create an account and put on the different book that their students are reading. After they do that the students can then log in and find their teachers name and practice their reading skills. Content: This website is used to help students improve their reading skills by reading for practice, recording their reading, checking with comprehension quizzes and listening for modeled fluency. For teachers there is a "teacher's corner" that helps them learn how to run through the website and even gives printable directions for students and their parents. Design: The overall design of this website is eye catching but not so over the top that it's hard to manage. It is extremely easy to navigate around and has a video on the homepage explaining the reasoning for the website and how to use it.

Overview: Its sponsored by NCTM, it is an easy website to use for students in K-8. There are powerpoints and videos to talk the user how to work the website. I would highly recommend this website to use in classrooms. Content: This website is targeted at the children but there are family as well as teacher activities. It is nice how they have print off worksheets for teachers to use in their classrooms. This site focuses on math, and covers algebra, geometry, measurements, numbers, and probability and statistsics. Design: This site is very easy to use, you can tell its targeted for the students due to the simplicity and kid friendly images that are on the homepage. The site is very appealing and if I was a (elementary) student I would be interested in playing around on this site.

Overview: This site is geared towards all age groups, from young children who can explore the web to parents and teachers who can read about how to teach the correct ways to handle money and how to budget and sort of money in any given case. The site is well organized and easy to maneuver through. The sponsor and author appear to be the same entity, and their logo appears on every page that comes up. Content: Of the content on the site, all facts displayed seem to be correct and the source supplying the information is credible. The sponsor and author are the same, which says the foundation knows what they are talking about. The activities available for children are helpful and informative, and range from savings, investing and compounding. For teenagers, the information is roughly the same and is equally important. The topics range from earning, saving, spending, owing, tracking, giving, investing, safeguarding and then some interactive activities. For parents, the topics range from investing in a child's future and retirement savings. Design: The site overall is eye catching and is not distracting. The colors are linked with the specific age range. The title of the site is decorative, and all the colors work well. Any pictures on the site relate to the subject and aren't overly exaggerated.

This website provides information on the history of Spain and how it relates to Spanish art.

Content: This website's purpose is easily determined within moments of looking at the page. Although I do not specifically want to teach science the information it provides makes the idea a lot less threatening. The content that is displayed provides a variety of topics that have to do with biology (whether it is human, animal, ECT…). Even though, the website is pretty short the attention it demands when you open the screen is remarkable. There are links to several other websites that all open and are available to further education in other areas of biology like I said previously. Design: From exploring this site, I believe that it is a reliable educational website for the use of teaching science topics and providing stimulating visuals to assist in the students learning. This is a website teachers can use for a variety of grades as it is grade appropriate website as it suggests. The homepage not only opens quickly and efficiently but exhibits other science based activities and strategies in other tabs; it is very clear and directive for the users Attribution: Overall this website is one that I would most likely use if I was going to be a science teacher. From the moment you open the site you see that the intended audience is for students but also provides valuable information for the teachers. As far as what links connect the user to where seems to be very clear. The media that is presented in this site is both interactive with the visual effects and descriptive which amplifies learning. From what I experienced, everything runs smoothly and is up to date with the current knowledge of what is to be expected in the classroom when covering these topics as well as making learning fun, which is equally as important. There happens to also be various links in which the user can use to seek out help.

Especially useful for k-6th grades, but has content for every grade. Content: Although this website must be paid for, you can still get many things free. It is very cheap to join only $20.00 a month and well worth it. This site provides information on a variety of languages from everything from English to Dutch. It has every subject matter as well science, math, history, and writing. It has printables, lesson plans, places for students to look things up, activities, and books to print. This website is very helpful for teachers because it has such a wide variety of things. Design: This website is very easy to navigate. The only problem I have run into is on occasion it will not accept the login. The website is very colorful and attracts the attention of young minds easily. It is full of pictures to aid learning. Attribution: Since you must pay for this website, or even the pages you can get without paying for them, you can use everything on this site without citations. A student can get on and take information without plagiarizing. Teachers can print everything on the site. The point of the site is to have information and printables that are easily accessible by teachers and easily usable by teachers.

Amanda Lemaster January 24, 2011 overview: The purpose of this website is to provide materials and ideas for elementary age children. It is intended for teachers or children to use. The resources in the website are almost endless, there are activity worksheets, coloring pages, and craft ideas. I feel that this website could be very useful for a teacher, or even a parent. The content is semi-educational, so I be careful with how I use it. content: There is a lot of content in this website. Almost all the resources that can be used are print-out activities. There are coloring pages, maps, diagrams and basic information about specific subjects. The subjects range from animals, to music to geography. There might almost be too much to this website, just be prepared to weed through a lot of information about the subject used. design: The design of this website is not exactly what most people would call up to date. When a person looks at this website they may think that this is an unreliable source. Just because of the poor quality of how it looks. There is lots of white space and many bold colors that stand out. The layout is very simple. The website is useful but could have a little better layout.

The purpose of this website is to provide information on various topics. LearningEnchanted.com provides information including sciences, literature, arts and crafts, history, and many content areas. The information provided seems to be directed towards an older audience whose life entails interaction with young children. However, it is very possible that grade school children would be able to access the website themselves. There is an "early reader's" section where children can access short chapter books or short stories. My overall impression of this website was fair. It met many of the credentials provided on the criteria sheets for content and design. However, it lacked visual appeal but excelled at providing applicable information for me as a future educator. Content: At first look, this website clearly identified its purpose and content. The founders of this website, Jeananda Col and Mitchell Spector, were clearly credited. Information on both is provided. The authors were both very well qualified to present this information and held degrees in various fields. Contact information was available. This website is updated quite frequently. Last update was on August 25, 2011. I did not find any links to outside websites. They were all connected within the EnchantedLearning site. The purpose was clear. There was commercial use because you can subscribe to the website to get more access. Also, there was basic access to many web pages that made it informational as well. The content does present the information in an effective manner but the site lacks the use of interactive opportunities. Based on my knowledge, all the information provided appeared to be accurate, consistent, and in good grammar. Although a huge fault of this website was the lack of exterior links, the content of this website are very helpful for future educators and parents. Jacqueline Twiford Web Site Review September 20, 2009 http://www.abcya.com/first_grade_computers.htm This first grade website allows you to incorporate technology with your students by allowing them to do activities for learning. This webpage has activities for grade levels K-8 which is helpful for bringing technology to all grade levels. On this site it allows students to navigate the web with voice instruction, and has large navigation buttons for easy understanding. CONTENT On the "ABCya" website it allows students in the first grade to play interactive computer games to learn concepts such as the alphabet, drawing, lowercase and uppercase letter matching as well as mouse exploitation. This site has a list of activities that students can use in helping them learn some of the essential concepts they will need to know. DESIGN The design of "ABCya" is a very colorful and organized webpage. Having a large display for navigation buttons and voice instructions makes introducing technology to your young student very easy. The design of this game site is very easy to use and explains in voice as you go. The webpage's load very quickly and easily. Also, if there is something you do not understand, all you have to do is click on the icon for a description of what the icons meaning is. "ABCya" has a design that will allow you to use it in a short class period without having to run from student to student helping. This design is like having an assistant with each student explaining how to operate it. Wonderful for the introduction to technology in the classroom, without the time frame fear (not having enough time) that most teachers have with using technology in the classroom.

Whitney Lindt Purpose: I think that the purpose of this website is to provide parents and teachers a safe website to send their children to. There is so much that one has to worry about on the internet these days it is nice to know that there are safe websites for the younger children out there that they can learn from. Overview: I think that this site would be great for teachers and parents of young students to use. It seems that more often than not students are learning with technology and they think it is fun and it keeps their attention and this website is great for that too because it is so visually attractive. The main focus of this sight is numbers and the alphabet which is perfect for 1st graders because that is the main focus in the classroom. And this website provides links which would help the students not only learn the material but practice what they are being taught. Content: The content of this site is perfect for what 1st graders will be learning in school. As a teacher I would even recommend this website to the parents of my students so that they knew their children were going to safe websites. There are storybooks on this website which would just be fun for the students to go to or for teachers to use in the different subjects they are teaching if they can apply it. Also there are links that can have the students work with spelling and the alphabet and also numbers. This website might also work for younger students than 1st graders because there are some really easy ways of learning numbers and letters on this site. Design: This website is wonderful because as soon as it opens it would have the attention of 1st graders in school and it would keep them attracted to the website. The site includes games, music and a comic book for children to learn about nutrition and fitness. Teachers can use this site for lesson planning in nutrition along with other subjects. There are many lesson plans with a variety of planning ideas in many subjects all with nutrition as the starting point. This site is easy to navigate but it is easy to get to parts of the site that are not specifically for children. The website is a part of the Dole corporation so the information is a little biased but the fruit and vegetable information is well researched and accurate. The site tends to slow down a bit when going to different pages.

The intended purpose of this website is to provide teachers with fun science lesson plans and activities for grades K-12. Lesson plans with the needed materials is provided, videos, images, quizzes, games and facts are also provided. The author is provided, along with how to contact him and a background information. Although the latest revision is not provided, the material that is shown seems accurate and up to date, based upon my knowledge. The content on this site is well organized, grammatically correct, and easy to understand. There are links that are on the website that are current and fit for the intended audience (teachers).
