Easy Assessment App « Mr Robbo - The P.E Geek - 9 views

  •
"As you will all be aware I have a major interest, some might say obsession with mobile applications. However one thing that has been lacking is an app that could replace/improve the assessment process that I currently use with my students. In order for an app to be a viable replacement, It would need to not only replicate what is possible using more traditional methods, but it should make the once impossible, possible and it should do it in a simple straight forward manner."

The apps in this AppGuide will track your sleep patterns based on your movement throughout the night and wake you up at the best possible time within the time frame that you set."

A Startling Real-World Account of iPad Integration | Edudemic - 7 views

"What if your school had the means to purchase a piece of education technology for your classroom? What would you pick? Given the choice, a school in the UK went right for the iPad (as you probably guessed from the title of this article). Why did they pick iPads? Because that's what the students, faculty, staff, and parents all wanted to as fast as possible. They had the option to have netbooks, laptops, and other education technology but it was iPads all the way."

Apps in Education: My E-Textbook Manifesto: - 12 views

  •
"The Apple announcement this week about iBooks Author - the new app that will allow anyone to create and distribute multimedia interactive books has been a long time coming. The initial introduction of PDF documents and then ePub documents into iBooks was always a stop gap measure because of the limitations of each of the individual formats. Anyone could produce these documents but they did not really live up to the promise of what we knew was possible. I knew what we could create in Pages but I was unable to reproduce this in an interactive format to distribute to my students on iBooks."

- Top 10 Sites for Educational Apps - 10 views

  •
The wave of the future is here, especially for education.  Terms like 21st Century Computing, BYOD (Bring Your Own Device), and Cloud Computing are mainstream.  The introduction of mobile devices, iPods, netbooks, and more specifically, the iPad, has brought technology to more students than ever before.  A one-to-one computing environment is not only a possibility, but also a reality in more school districts than people realize.  With all that being said, below are my 10 favorite sites for finding educational apps.

What I've Learned from Teaching with iPads - ProfHacker - The Chronicle of Higher Education - 6 views

  •
"I had high hopes when I handed out iPads to students in my graduate seminar this semester. I wanted to explore the possibilities of tablet computing and see firsthand how tablets might be used in higher education. I also wanted students to see for themselves where the iPad might fit into their lives and their careers - and into the future of media and communication."

How the iPad 2 Became My Favorite Computer - 7 views

  •
"I respectfully disagree with Shanklin. I think it's possible to use an iPad as one's primary device for professional-level content creation. Actually, scratch that. I'm positive it's possible-because I've been doing it for the past three months, and I've been having a really good time."

My Must-Have iPad Apps, 2011 Edition - 16 views

  •
"Last year, six months after the release of the original iPad, I published an article called "My Must-Have 20 iPad Apps" in which I collected my favorite iPad applications - the ones I used and enjoyed the most - as of September 2010. Fast forward thirteen months, the iPad's software ecosystem has matured into something completely different from last year's "experimentation" stage, when third-party developers, and quite possibly Apple as well, were still trying to figure out how, exactly, the iPad would change our digital lifestyles. Looking back to the iPad 1 and the App Store in 2010, it's no surprise the list of apps I have today is so much different."

K-5 iPad Apps for Applying: Part Three of Bloom's Revised Taxonomy | Edutopia - 17 views

  •
"Bloom's Revised Taxonomy breaks each learning stage (remember, understand, apply, analyze, evaluate and create) into four separate levels of knowledge. These levels include the factual, conceptual, procedural, and metacognitive. Together the levels of knowledge are making incremental movements from a factual understanding, to the personal command and realization of the learning process. The revised taxonomy also lists two cognitive processes within the applying stage: executing and implementing.1 These two processes illustrate the range of thinking skills possible within a stage. Executing requires the application of factual knowledge and refers to the ability to carry out learned procedures such as solving a long division problem. On the other hand, implementing reaches up into the metacognitive level and demands that students be able to apply learned skills to a task that initially appears to be an unrelated to prior learning experiences. Google Swiffy - 16 views

  •
Swiffy converts Flash SWF files to HTML5, allowing you to reuse Flash content on devices without a Flash player (such as iPhones and iPads).Swiffy currently supports a subset of SWF 8 and ActionScript 2.0, and the output works in all Webkit browsers such as Chrome and Mobile Safari. If possible, exporting your Flash animation as a SWF 5 file might give better results.
