"free service for streaming live to the iPhone and iPod Touch. Using Livestream Procaster, users can stream live from their webcam, video camera or even broadcast their PC or Mac desktop. Livestream producers can start streaming live to the addressable iPhone and iPod Touch audience over 3G or Wi-Fi connections, with less than five minutes of setup. A key breakthrough is that the service doesn't require any proprietary player or application to be installed on the iPhone. •
"This week's pick is NPR Music for iPad, which offers a superb mix of music from a range of good genres, music news, articles, reviews, interviews, live concerts and exclusive streams and lots more. The App Store page for NPR Music touts it as 'your guide to new music' and 'love at first listen'. And happily, the app nicely lives up to those big promises."

  • Three years ago, we knew nothing about apps, and now they’re an integral part of our daily lives. Mobile gaming was virtually unheard of, except for a few iterations of solitaire. Now we can play PC quality games like Infinity Blade and Call of Duty right on our phones and tablets.

"Technology is changing many of our everyday lives' aspects. It is almost impossible to find someone who does not have a technological device that they use daily. The iPad is undoubtedly the most popular among Americans. Its benefits (quick and easy access to the Internet, portability, and applications for almost anything that you can think of) are facilitating its adoption and integration into almost every field of study and work. This infographic shows the state of iPad usage in the U.S., focusing on the Educational field, which is currently the one who is adopting mobile devices at the fastest pace. It was made using statistics from a 3-month period ending June 2012. "

iPads for Everyone: How a small library program became a runaway hit and reached more t... - 21 views

  •
"Walk into our school library and you're bound to see scores of iPads propped up on the tables. Our students at Westlake High, a large suburban school on the outskirts of Austin, TX, are using them to read ebooks, download assignments, edit videos, write blog posts, and to do much more. Since we rolled out our 1:1 iPad program a year ago, more than 4,100 teachers and students, including eighth graders at the nearby middle school and even some of our elementary school classes, have taken advantage of these devices. In fact, they've become as much a part of students' everyday lives as their notebooks, backpacks, and textbooks."

The Best Way to Use iBooks Author in Education | edcetera - Rafter Blog - 10 views

  •
"Sometimes we focus on what an app can't do and forget to look at what it can. That's been the case with iBooks Author, Apple's e-book creation platform released nearly a year ago. Part of the problem was Apple's own hyperbolic statements about its "disruptive" nature to the textbook publishing industry. It failed to live up to the hype for a variety of well-documented reasons. But this post is about what it is, not what it isn't."

This iOS App Blows Your Mind In Four Dimensions [Review] | Cult of Mac - 1 views

  •
"Be forewarned, then: The Fourth Dimension is an app which will mess with your head. Deliberately. Even though the aim is education and expansion of knowledge, it will still mess with your head. You will emerge from the experience only fractionally the wiser, and quite a lot more confused than you were at the beginning. Don't worry, this is perfectly normal. The aim of the app is to explain four spatial dimensions to creatures like us who live in a stubbornly three dimensional universe."

I need an app for my iPad habit - The Globe and Mail - 0 views

  •
"I got an iPad because my girlfriend Laura has one. She told me that once I had one, I wouldn't want to live without it. Unfortunately, she was right. My iPad is more addictive than anything I've ever owned. It gives me everything I need except for sex and chocolate bars."
