Apps in Education: iDevices in the Science Lab - 5 views

"Can you record what you see in a microscope using an iDevice. One of the Science teachers came into the staff room very excited yesterday. She had been working with her senior science class with the normal light microscope looking at red and white blood cells at 400X. They were discussing how they could document their experiment. One of her students just grabbed his iPhone, placed it on the eyepiece of the microscope and took a photograph. Here are the resulting images."

How To Sync Apps From Multiple Macs | Mac|Life - 20 views

  • Any content that your husband purchased through the iTunes Store on his Mac or through the App Store on the iPad—apps, music, TV shows, and movies--can be stored on up to five authorized computers. Those five computers can then sync to any number of iPads or iPhones.
  • Ideally, I would like to merge his apps with my apps. Is there any way?
  • First, authorize your Mac with your husband’s iTunes account name and password.
  • ...3 more annotations...
  • Then you’ll need to copy his iPad apps onto your computer
  • Next, iTunes will ask you if you want to transfer your husband’s apps into your own iTunes library.
  • You can then sync your iPad once again, and iTunes will ask you if you want to overwrite your iPad with your apps. This time, you can allow that to happen

Our iMovie Project - Just iPadding Along - 8 views

"In DigiDesign club at the end of last term, ten of our Grade 6s were tasked with creating marketing videos for our school. They had to plan their videos by brainstorming ideas with Popplet and then they had to film the video of our school and use iMovie to edit and create the final videos - all on the iPads!"

Apps in Education: Apps to Use as Student ePortfolios - 13 views

"I have yet to find the perfect Digital Portfolio app that I think I would use exclusively in a Visual Arts class. Some apps can be used as graphic portfolios or as beautiful sketchbooks, others are great at sharing. Not all of the apps available are great at all of these things. I have spent a heap of time trying to find one and would be more than happy for someone to send me the name of one they are using successfully. Having said that the following are apps that I would consider using;"

Digital Roadtrip * Unique method for accessing student work on iPads? - 16 views

  •
"There is an awful lot of hot air blown about accessing student work from "class sets" of iPads, via email, WebDAV, Dropbox etc etc. A little known and cool method is this… We all know that we can share via iTunes over USB to any Mac/PC with a recent version of iTunes. Well would you believe the same thing works without a cable and it doesn't have to be the Mac/PC that manages the devices. It means that any teacher can access all the students files on a device that has been "Saved to iTunes". You can even pick up the work, mark it and hand it back to the iPad whilst the iPad is still being used by the kids (unbeknown to the user!)."

K-12 iPad Deployment Checklist « - 2 views

"School has started for most of us around the country. Alarm clocks are set, bleary-eyed kids stumble their way to class, and iPads are being handed out. Just a typical day here at Eanes and many districts across the country. As the amount of 1:1 schools and districts continue to grow with many different devices, but specifically the Apple iPad, I thought it might be good to reflect and share the laundry list of items we've prepared in getting ready for our roll-outs. (all high school students, 8th graders, and 2 grade levels at the elementary schools are 1:1 this year) I've already written about 10 things NOT to do in a 1:1 here (the list is growing in year 2) but what about things we SHOULD do?"

Apps in Education: iPad Apps for the Visually Impaired Kids in your Class - 4 views

"AppAdice.com is one of those places that I go to for quick and easy lists of apps that complete specific tasks. These guys put a lot of time and effort into making these lists and often categorise apps within the lists. They always start with an Overview of what the apps do and then list them in categories; Essential, Notable, Decent and then others. "

Collaborative Whiteboard Apps for the Classroom - 14 views

"Interactive and collaborative - Whiteboards are a great way for teachers to explain concepts to their students. With the ability of some iPad apps to record, you ensure that students who did not develop understanding of the concept the first time have the opportunity to watch and listen again and again. Working in small groups or brainstorming as a class, collaborative whiteboards are a great way to share ideas. Work in the same room, on the same network or even from different parts of the country. No matter what you are working on these interactive whiteboards are a great way to document or record your thinking process. "

Another idea to make a document camera and cheaper still. Vice like grip onto a kids desk. Nice and portable.
