Oil futures plunged Wednesday after a after a closely watched report showed U.S. oil inventories rose to their highest level in more than three decades last week. Crude oil stockpiles surged 6.7 million barrels to 395.3 million barrels during the week ended April 26, the Energy Information Administration reported Wednesday. Precious metals prices rose in unison with equities and commodities on Friday, notching a weekly gain, after U.S. nonfarm payrolls data showed modest job growth in January. Base metals are expected to go up as China's copper imports rose 2.9 percent to 350,958 tonnes in January in the previous month and can support prices on improved outlook for demand after the holiday season ends.Three-month copper on the London Metal Exchange closed down 0.30 percent at $8,210 a tonne. Natural gas prices are likely to go down due to high production and inventories. However cold weather forecasts can limit the downside.
