What did you find most interesting about the first two eastern religions we have covered?

I thought they were pretty close in comparison, except that Buddhism is a little more structured. I can see the point that Hinduism can be argued against as being a religion. Either way both religions are a peaceful religion and typically what I would think of when asked about an eastern religion.

I have a hard time believing that Hinduism can be considered a religion. With all of the gods and without a structured organization, how can an individual firmly place his faith in anything. It seems too ambiguous. I find it difficult to believe that suffering is life. I think the opposite. I find life very enjoyable. I think suffering comes from poor choices and lack of faith in God. Life is what we make of it.

The most interesting aspect of the eastern religions we have hitherto studied would probably be the beauty contained within each religion. There seems to be a unifying ideal with both Hinduism and Buddhism: an accordance with peace and tranquility. Now, obviously both religions have the bloodstained hands of religious battle. However, that seems to be the antithesis of both of the religions.
Buddhism is, on the other hand, the religion I found most interesting. Purely from an ideological standpoint Buddhism tends to appeal to me via meditation, peace and accordance with oneself and their surroundings.

The relationship between Hinduism & Buddhism reminds me of Judaism and Christianity. The Buddha was born into a Hindu family just like Jesus was born into a Jewish family, both of them branching out of their religion changing it to make a new.

I think that out of the two, Hinduism interested me the most. The fact that it has no unified system of belief or declaration of faith or creed is different from any other religion. Which is why I can understand how some people argue that it isn't a religion. I also think that it's interesting that it's so old that it can't be traced back to a complete history or founder.

The most interesting concept of Hinduism is the rituals that take place in the Ganges River. I just have a have understanding how someone can drink from a river that is so grossly polluted. This verifies the fact there is really no structure.

Buddhism is associated with the bohdi tree-"the awakening." The Buddha says everything is impermant. This religion believes in "The Eightfold Path" and all things are preceeded by the mind, led by the mind, and created by the mind. It seems like a relaxed, free-spirited, happy religion.
