UK Election (UKElection10) on Twitter - 0 views

  •
Twitter feeds that reported the results of the recent UK election could serve as a starting point on election coverage. I would not be surprised if preliminary reports eventually leak ahead of the polls closing. Do you think twitter will be regulated in elections? Maybe not all electoral officials are discrete...

Hitler's copyright panzers roll out - 0 views

A scene from a German movie where the actor impersonated Hitler has been curbed by claims of copyright infringement. (I'm not surprised!) The movie produced in 2004 was asked to remove its scene of humorous Hitler impersonation and rendered the Germans as lacking a sense of humour. Despite the removal, dismay fans has reenacted the scene as new parodies are added over the internet.

Google.cn search engine close to being shut down in China | The Australian - 0 views

  • Google's closure of Google.cn would leave the internet in China almost entirely dominated by local companies.
  • That helps the Chinese government's efforts to control information, because it can more easily control local companies, but it means foreign participation in one of the fastest-growing parts of China's economy will be limited, and it leaves Chinese users increasingly isolated.
  • Beijing wouldn't go that far because it would risk infuriating millions of users.
  •
GOOGLE appears increasingly likely to close down its Chinese-language search engine, in a step that would remove one of the last major foreign players from the world's most populous and fastest-growing internet market.
  •
Even with existing knowledge of the limitation that China government has in term of internet, I still find this quite surprising. Funny enough that as a Taiwanese, we've been taught that how strickly and misarable our Chinese friends live there; as years go by, we've been told again that what our old belief of our Chinese friends is no long true and those people are actuallly "set free." Apparently, there are still lots of unbelievable limits for our Chinese friends in internet wise.

Korea to impose gaming curfew to curb minors' playtime - 0 views

South Korean government started invervention to game addiction among the country's youth. it mgiht be pretty sad news for gamers but I agree with this. Too much violent and adult content computer games are indsicriminately exposed to anybody including chidlren. I am always surprised by the language and behaviour of the kids when they play computer games in internet cafes. As game addiction has been on the social issues for many years, it is time for the authorities to do the action.
