Microsoft shares the same point of view on the limitations of the Flash product as Apple. Again, reliability, security and performance were identified as impediments of supporting the flawed software. Speaking about the mobile era Steve Jobs of Apple says 'low power devices, touch interfaces and open web standards...' are areas where Flash is not currently accommodating. It's most interesting to watch powerful market players create pressure for change in the internet space. Adobe can ill afford to ignore these criticisms yet it's now taking opportunity to discredit the motives of the multinationals: "Apple's moves to block Flash and other technologies are designed to protect a business model that locks developers and consumers into a single, proprietary stack," Adobe spokeswoman Holly Campbell said.

Four US senators express concern about Facebook's recent changes which enable a user's friends to follow them to websites they've visited and know how they rated them. This is also enabling third parties to gain access to user data which was once private.

Looks like Facebook has figured out a way to tell other companies more about us at the click of a 'Like' button. On the one hand, it's personalisation at its best, having content served up to a user based on what they like on the sites they visit. But on the other hand, users are unknowingly sharing a lot of personal information about themselves to their networks on Facebook and, inadvertently, the company they just visited via a website.

This is a story not so much about hackers bringing down an organisation's network, but about a virus software breaking down and attacking its own operating system. Just thought it would be interesting to share a story about what could go wrong even when you're trying to protect yourself against viruses. Back in March, Iranian's took part in the traditional fire festival, held at night time. A trend I've noticed with reporting in mainstream news is the use of a live blog with bloggers taking shifts to report on big events - The Guardian recently did this with the UK election and may do it for the World Cup coming up. To see this level of detail in live reporting in a mainstream news source is great, especially when it's not related to something as boring as sport ;) The reporter has contacts on the ground and also encourages other Iranians who may be reading to send him secure emails with updates from the event. Videos posted on YouTube are also linked to as soon as they're made available.

German Criminal Court rules that Wi-Fi internet account owners who do not have password protection will be fined 100 euros for 3rd parties which perform acts of piracy on their account, further broadening the spectrum of responsibility of copyright infringement.
