This I when Smith realized how she had been used and exploited. - This happened to her when she was 14 years old. - Smith has just finished with middle school, Smith was trying to fit in when she was lured and manipulated into prostitution by an older man who made her feel special. - In 1992, she had become a victim of human trafficking in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and she didn't even know it.

New York has been known for a major center of the human traffcking rate. This is mainly because the immigrant rate is really high. Human trafficking doesnt always have to cross the international border. Human trafficking is recently being referred to as the mondern day slavery. Human trafficking is so common in todays world.
